I am researching buying a lcd 37" tv. I am currently using a non-hd Direct TV feed on a conventional tube tv. Will I get a good picture with an lcd tv with this setup or will i need to upgrade to an hd signal?

You will WANT to upgrade, but if it's going to be a while before you do, SONY has the better LOW Definition picture.

They spent some time engineering their TV sets to give a good picture in both Low Def and Hi Def.....

I just bought a Sony 32" LCDHD about a month ago and I have basic cable with no up grades yet. I am really pleased with the picture I'm getting now, much better than with my older tube tv.

you will get a decent picture. Some HDTV's display SD better than others. If its not acceptable, just upgrade.
