This is hard to explain- but I will try my hardest.

Lately, past three monts or so, I have had the occasional weird feeling in my chest, almost "light-chested". It is almost as if my heart is skipping some beats. The feeling makes me want to cough, so I do. It is also accompanied by the feeling that I am not getting enough air. It's not that I can't breathe- I can, it just makes me think that I should breathe deeper. When I do breathe deeply, though, I get light headed. It is occasionally oppanied by tight-chestedness.
This occurs when I am at rest, and I am a teenager. My mom this it may be anxiety or stress related. I have mild asthma and anxiety.
Any ideas?

It could just be muscle related. I was experiencing something of the same (only without the lightheartedness) and i went to the doctor about it. As it turns out, i had contusions on my kidneys and light bruises on the muscles around my heart, not on my heart directly. It is most likely some sort of physical problem, either from stress or maybe you accidentally over-exerted yourself somehow. I am actually feeling it again at the moment because I hurt the muscle badly last night. I got electrocuted (by a strand of Christmas lights), and i pulled my arm off the wire as fast as i could, and subsequently hurt the muscle again.

"They couldn't do anything about it" because it is from ana anxiety disorder. Forget about it. Are you being treated for your anxiety disorder? Lots of effective meds available.

yup, it's anxiety related and probably sparks your asthma a bit.
