Why do you think Christians jump in on questions that are directed at pagans, witches, Wiccans, heathens and other "non-believers"? All they do is C&P Bible verses at us telling us we're going to hell for not believing in Jesus and God and yet complain if we answer their questions by saying their God doesn't exist. Fair?

Em - I can understand I and welcome curiosity. It's the preaching that is rude. I haven't seen many pagans, Wiccans, etc saying "prayers" in Christian questions.

From what I've seen you've always been polite - thank you.

Because they love you and they want to save you from the firey pit of Hell. Christianity is the only true religion, you see, and it is the duty of every good Christian to spread the word, share the good news, and save as many damned souls as possible. They just want you to be as happy (and sexually repressed) as they are. So, telling you that your religion is wrong, that your lifestyle is wrong, and that your political party is wrong, is all out of love. Annoying, really.

That, and I think that when they get to heaven, they get a prize depending on how many converts they make. Like, if they only make 20 converts in their life, they get a gift certificate to Burger King. Over 100, and they get a steak knife. If they manage to get over 1000 converts, they get a PS3 or an XBOX 360. Over 1500 converts, and they get a Corvette.

Those who claim to be a High Priest/Priestess yet sets out to take advantage of others. The authors that don't do ANY kind of research, just writes about how horrible everyone else is and then makes up crap and calls it "authoritative". Fluffy Bunnies annoy me, but not nearly as much as the Wiccans who claim no one can be a "witch" unless they go thru a certain trad (tradition for those who don't know) and be formally taught by them. Witches weren't "taught formally" in ancient times... they learned what was appropriate for them and handed it down thru family/friends/etc... there weren't any underground "witch schools" back then, so this idea is absolutely ridiculous to me. Then there's the Racist groups within my own religion... these people burn me up. They use our religious symbols and bits and pieces of lore they learned from ww2 and the nazi regime (which was totally messed up to begin with) and then try to claim they are doing what our gods want *Sigh* I'm not sure about any single group that has helped ALL of us the most, but some have done a lot to bring Paganism in general to light. Covenant of the Goddess, Circle Sanctuary, The Troth, Asatru Folk Assembly, The Pagan Federation (UK), Avalon Isle Foundation, Earth Religions Legal Assistance Network... There are many groups that have helped us get out into the public, but with all of the old propaganda that has been lingering throughout these ages, I feel it's going to take even more of us to get out there. But we do have to deal with the assholes in our groups. Unlike other religions who, when they have someone giving them a bad name, they simply pull the "they're not a TRUE....." When we find people who are giving us a bad name, we need to cut them off... publicly. Just saying "He's not true to our religion." doesn't do a thing about how the public in general views us. They will remember the bad guys quicker than the good ones.

My favorite thing to do is qoute the Havomal to the evangelist that email me with Bible versus. Throws them all off.
I just ignore them. You can't do anything about them, sort of like cockroaches of the spritual world. Not all Christians are alike that, I have some REALLY awesome contacts, even a born again who I love to death and they respect that I am not going to change my beliefs any sooner then they will thiers.
And they have a freaking persecution complex. If you read about the "christian gangs" in Rome before the Pagan Wars, they were doing the same thing then too.

They're trying to "scare the hell outta us" ;-) Out of the few questions I've asked of Pagans, Heathens, etc... I usually get the one's that truly do not know the first thing about our beliefs, ramble on and on accusing all of us of doing things that they dreamed up and then spout verses from a book that I don't place faith in. I've tried being "polite" (ok, it was in a sarcastic way) by asking if they would listen to me if I suddenly started quoting the Havamal or the Eddas at them, if they would listen. That's usually when I get the emails from the people who don't allow email lol I love it when they talk about how Just their God is. I think I'll stick with Tyr... his idea of Justice is, at least, with the definition of the word. =)

No, not fair. But I know why many do it. Some feel they are helping you, according to the Gospel they follow. Others are, sadly, being bigoted. Yet, I jump in on questions directed to Pagans, etc, sometimes, because I was part of that umbrella group once. And if I can help I will.

Also, I think some of us are curious, same way others jump in on Christian only questions. Ya know?

EDIT: Thank you Frau :)

Fair point. I've answered questions directed at Christians before, but they were never an advertisement for paganism. I actually answered the question. I never went crazy fundie and told them how they were all going to go to Hades before reincarnating into dung beetles or something...

Honestly, I think they have issues with their own religions and beliefs. Otherwise, why look in and see what we are talking about? I'm Wiccan and I see tons of questions posted for Christians and I don't go in there and start saying that I'm going to light candles for these brainwashed people, or something offensive like that. I could care less what they are discussing, unless they are directly bashing other religions. So I guess I think that the people who jump in on our questions are really unsure of themselves as Christians. Which would be fine, if they'd admit it.

Evengelization. It's like the Pyramid Scheme, they're only true Christians if they get 8 other people to believe. The funniest is when they get a Christian to convert from some other sect of Christian and call that finding Christ. It's quite humorous.

I get what you're saying. Part of a religion is certainty- the world works in a particular way. Since religion incorporates belief, it becomes a very personal matter and things escalate quickly. An attack against religion is an attack against *them*. This while the religious think they are doing you a favor "bringing you into the fold". The thought you don't want *insert deity here* in your life is, for them, inconceivable.

In their minds it is fair, because they really think they are doing a good thing by judging and maybe steering us over in their direction(though I think that rarely works). They believe they are correct.
In reality, no, it isn't fair and it isn't right.
R & S is a not a place for just Christians, it's for everyone and they should respect that.
