I am entering nursng school next fall and i was wondering if it was hard (er) and if it is worth all of the hard work that goes into it? I am hoping to work in the Birthing unit.

i was also wondering what were the hardest classes you had to take (pre-reqs, and in nursing school)

I did not find nursing school or the prerequisites particularly hard, but they were more time consuming. While I could grasp the information without significant difficulty, trying to absorb the classroom material and, perform the clinical rotations and then go home and work all night to prepare care plans and other paperwork was what I found difficult. Especially, as I was trying to work to pay for school at the time. Luckily I did not have a family at the time. When my wife went through the nursing program, we had 2 children, and I was finished with my masters degree and working 12-14 hour days at a family practice clinic and working on my doctorate.

It is all worth it, and I think all areas of nursing I have been in have been rewarding.

Good job Beau R, my wife is a nurse also but she is in cardiac recovery. Very different than pediatrics. Especially in todays world nursing has some serious job security. She always said chem was her hardest classes.

Good luck!

I'm married to a nurse. The job is hard, and at times heartbreaking, but it can be rewarding as well. Stick with it.
