Ignore the disgusting people, stop thinking of things of this world. You must have a contrite heart and a teachable spirit.

First thing, dont listen to the jerks that say you are asking the wrong people . You can ask whoever you want too.
I have been a mormon my whole life and a few times i wonder if there is a christ. As you wonder this you need to understand that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ answer your prays in certain ways.... most of the time it is thru another person. When i wonder if there is a christ a thought comes into my head and i think that there has to be a Christ because look at all the beautfiul people and animals and this world we have. It couldnt come just out of thin air. I never wonder if there is a christ anymore because i know in my heart that there is. When you think about it everything in this world is like a puzzle. I might not be a lot of help but i would like to bear my testimony to you...
I know that there is a true Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that they love you and me and everyone else. Prayer is a very powerful thing and i promise you will have an answer to all of your prayers. Continue to be close to Christ and pray unto him dailly and you will realize the truth. Look at your blessings you have had and understand that someone loves you and they are helping you through out your life. I know these things with all my heart. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen

Hey Robin-
I'm a convert myself. Answers are received in so many different ways. For me, reading the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon, is where I felt my Heavenly Father's love and concern.
Alma talks about planting the seed, which is "the word," and continuing to nourish it. -Alma 32 You've probably heard the adage, "If you want to talk to the Lord, pray. If you want to hear from the Lord, read your scriptures."
True conversion and faith come from frequent and deep study, and the spirit bearing witness of the truthfulness of what you read/hear. Remember, "faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." -Romans 10:17
Once you have had the witness of the spirit (and even before), commit to continue down the path you have commenced (2 Ne 31:20) and follow the promptings of the spirit. Moroni emphasized that we must ask with "real intent." -Moroni 10:4
You will have confidence in your life and will see through the ignorance in the world, especially many answers given on Yahoo Answers by people who don't know what they're talking about.
Best Wishes,
Rusty
It can be a struggle. Remember what Thomas Paine said "The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly...."

We all have times when we don't feel God near. It happens to everyone of every religion. Mother Theresa wrote about those times. I remember as a Baptist I felt that too, until the LDS missionaries started teaching me.
We do what we can and then have faith that God will do the rest, because he will. Sometimes the longer we work to feel God the more profound the answer is.
Some things to consider are:
Am I keeping the commandments to the best of my ability?
Am I having meaningful prayer? I know that some of my prayers that bring me closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus are those where I just express my gratitude.
Keep a journal. Make sure that every day you record at least one tender mercy of the Lord that you notice in your life. The more you look for them, the more you will see, and the more real the Savior will be in your life.
Read the scriptures and really think about them. Put yourself within the pages of scriptures.
Attend your meetings. Talk with people at church who you feel are close to the Lord and who you feel are spiritual. They can give you guidance and encouragement.
Listen to the sweet music of the gospel. The hymns, Janice Kapp Perry music, etc always help me feel the spirit.
Read the church magazines. There are so many lovely articles and talks within the pages of the Ensign. Here is a link to one that I like http://lds.org/ldsorg/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=2354fccf2b7db010VgnVCM1000004d82620aRCRD&locale=0&sourceId=18659209df38b010VgnVCM1000004d82620a____&hideNav=1
You can go to the church's website and have access to decades of talks and articles. YOu can also listen to conference talks on line.
Don't give up. You have a Heavenly Father and Savior who love you and want to encircle you with their arms. Have patience.

I had the opposite problem, everytime I asked God about a guy, I would get the burning for every guy (to see if he was Mr. right) and I know every guy was not the one for me. In the christian church, you learn that God answers prays in other ways, liek thru dreams and thru people and thru a still small voice and there are suppose to be 24 other ways that God can talk to you, so I would not fret just yet, he may have already talked to you, you just have not picked up on it yet. Unfortunetly the mormons focus on teh burning and the testimony, and as I recall, the still small voice sometimes, when I was a mormon, and I know this only happened because I was a child (suffer the little ones to come to me scripture) I wrote a note to God and hid it were my family puts the year food supply, as far as I knew, no one ever cleaned out the food storage area, so one day I went to check on the note and it was gone, like God had taken it to heaven. Now maybe someone had found it, but as I said, no one really cleaned up the joint so...who knows...who knows but God.

Ether 12 says "ye receive no witness until AFTER the trial of your faith."
Your faith is being tried. Be humble, be patient, be prayerful, and study the scriptures.
"Ask and ye shall receive, Knock and it shall be opened unto you".
Pray and ask for specific things. Pray that you'll recognize the spirit as it speaks to you.

You're stressing out isn't helping your spiritual sensitivity. You need to relax and try just one little subject at a time. Ask for a simple decision that is important to you. Come to a conclusion in your own mind and present it to the Lord in prayer. Listen quietly for a feeling in your heart and in your mind. If you feel good about your decision, then it is right. If you feel confused and uncomfortable about your decision, then it is wrong and you need to try again. Reread D&C Sections 6, 8 & 9. They outline for you how to receive answers to your prayers. It worked for me, it will work for you if you ask in faith, humility and sincerity. I believe that you are trying too hard instead of relaxing and listening quietly for the answer. Remember, He speaks peace to your mind and comfort to your heart.
Don't give up.

I went through the same experience myself. I invite you to read my testimony on my 360 page. Also, it could be that you're looking for "too much" of an answer. I also recommend reading Elder Glenn Pace's General Conference address given in April 2007.

Just stick to love and nurture it well. Thats the best gift that was given to us by the creator(s) of this world we live in and with. By loving you should also get love back. Not always easy but never give up on loving your peers, helping them out when they need it, being kind and generous to them, listening to their worries and giving them comfort. We shall see ourselves as vehicles of love and drive it in the right directions to erase hatred and the problems that we, as human beings, encounter because of selfishness and narcissism. Then life should become more colourful and enlightened for our souls, or spirits or minds to wander. Isnt that what life is about? Evolving into free and happy people in safe, secure, harmonious surroundings? I think thats what the driving force behind the human race is, and we shall stick to that for it is best for us, and certainly so for the driving force: God.
ps: not to forget that driving love requires wisdom ;-)

Answers to prayers come when you least expect them - something someone says in a talk or in conversation, something you read in a church manual or the scriptures. Expect to get an answer but accept that it will be in Gods time.

The Holy Ghost does not speak loud, but with a whisper, and you will at last feel, and hear his messages.
Ask yourself are I living a clean life?
Are I Studying the scriptures,
Do I kneel in prayer to get my message?
