Usher syndrome is an inherited syndrome that results in hearing loss, vision loss and sometimes loss of balance. There are several types, and the severity of the above symptoms vary with the type. Usher syndrome is inherited as an autosomal recessive, which means that the gene is present in both parents although neither manifest symptoms of the disorder.
About 3 to 6 % of all deaf persons are thought to result from Usher syndrome. Try the following website:
