I just want to know which PS3 has the most backwards-compatability. I'm not worried about the price range. I heard that the 60GB has something that the 80GB doesn't that improves compatability...

The 20GB and 60GB PS3's has the most backward compatibility and can play nearly all PS1 and PS2 games because they have the Emotion Engine chip.

The 40GB PS3 is the only version that cannot play PS2 games.

The 80GB PS3 is backward compatible with PS1 and PS2 games, but it just can't play as many as the 20GB and 60GB PS3's because the 80GB PS3 uses Emulation Software instead of the Emotion Engine chip.

20 gb and 60gb have backward compatible by using emotion engine, which use the same as the ps2. that means you can play at least 97% of ps1 and ps2 games.

80gb have backward compatible by using software emulation, instead of hardware, which means you can play at least 75% all ps1 and ps2 games and can upscale the graphic.

40gb have no backward compatible for the ps2, only for the ps1 games.

The 40 GB PS3 is not backwards compatible. The 80 GB is, but plays 80% percent of all playstation games. The 20 and the 60 GB PS3 play all playstation games because it has the emotion engine thingamabobber.
