The philly shell does hinder body punching but the punches are still having to be absorbed, Mayweather takes a lot of punches with his shoulders but it could leave him slightly open this time, maybe.

I was a tad worried about Hatton's body attack until a studied up a bit on Floyd. He's got long arms, and his elbows go all the way to his protector. He uses the Philly Shell, and that defense looks to negate a body attack. Left elbow protects the left side and kidney, left forearm crosses over the solar plexus and liver, and right elbow protects the right side and right kidney. It's not if he can take Hatton's crunchers, it's IF Hatton is fast enough to land counterpunches to Floyd's body. Can Hatton wait for Floyd to attack, then counter before Floyd gets back on guard? A disciplined Philly Shell defense should make speed and footwork the difference in the fight.

Anything can happen with two good fighters. And yea, boxing is tough, but American football is a lot more dangerous. About ten high school students a year become paraplegics from playing American football, not to mention college and pros--brain damage, body damage, disabilities.

elmer fudd pretty much stole my answer. I don't think Rick is quite fast enough to counter Floyd and get to the body, even though i wish he was.

I take a dim view of homo sapiens wreaking havoc on other homo sapiens. Why do people regard pugilism as sport? It is barbaric. We might as well go to war. At least that has some moral ascendancy. But I do hope he beats the cr.p out of the Yank.

No fight of matched boxers can be easy. It's 'fighting talk' to attract an audience.
