The better question is: Why is it a sin to kill a Christian immediately after redemption? Doing so frees them from having to commit suicide to die at that given time, assures that they die with no sins, and makes sure that they get into
Heaven and lead a better life. So...you are benefiting that person...doing them a favor....yet it is still as much of a sin as actively harming others, killing unbelievers (and thus removing any potential for future redemption, and dooming them to hell), etc.

And, it also makes me wonder: How is it, exactly, that Christian doctrine adds meaning to life this way? It seems to devalue this life absurdly, as its relevance is defined solely by your destination in the next life, which is the only life where your actualy purpose can be attained...it is all just bizarre to the extreme.

Excellent question, should be a bunch of silly answers.

The real answer, is we were not meant to die. We are humans, physical human beings and are meant to live on earth. So nobody with a measure of health wants to die.

Think about the Garden of Eden, that was to be expanded to cover the whole earth with healthy, happy, peaceful people populating the planet and "subduing" it, making the rest of the earth as the population expanded to be like the small Garden that was originally there.

God also gave the warning, if they ate from the tree they would "positively die". So, what was the other conclusion:

A) Or you will die anyways even if you don't eat

or

B) Otherwise you will keep on living if you obey my words

So the first humans could still be alive today, but they disobeyed god, and thus died as he said. Had they been obedient they would still be alive today, and we would not have been in this dying situation.

Man is still meant for the earth and will eventually re-obtain the perfection Adam lost for us, but the reason nobody wants to die, is we were never meant to die in the first place, and earth is our home.

Because we were created with a desire to live, and the Bible confirms that in Ecclisiastes 3:11

11He (God) has made everything appropriate in its time He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.

Who can really pick a time when they would like to die (I know some commit suicide, but they are in the minority)?

As Christians, we are aware of the promise of a heavenly reward, but that doesn't make us anxious to get there quickly. We just need to be ready to reap that reward when our time comes.

I am not in a hurry because I believe we don't go to heaven until the resurrection. Since that is a date when all people go, I think I shall bide as much of my time here on earth. Why spend more time rotting in the dirt than you have to?

People are mislead by the devil who is a lier from the Many people want to find God but look in the wrong places and the devil has blinded there eyes so that the truth cannot been seen. Once people accept Jesus Christ and know they will spend eternity in Heaven then they cannot figure out why they did not come to Christ earlier .

Because as a Christian it is our job to tell others about Jesus, Only God decides when it is time to come home. Jesus came to earth and died on a Cross at Calvery to save you and me. He came and shed His Blood to wash away our sins. Thats how much He loves us. He gave His life so that we might live. Jesus saved me when I was 8 years old, I am still a sinner but by faith in Jesus Christ I can ask for forgiveness and my sins are washed away. It is a huge burden off my shoulders when I pray, there are no words I can say that can explain the weight of sin and how it pulls you down and you don't realize it until you accept Jesus Christ into your heart and that burden is lifted. You feel like you can soar thru the sky, it is a joy and peace undescribable. You can be saved today if you believe, are you willing to ask Jesus to come into your life and make you born again? Are you willing to confess you are a sinner and that you need a Saviour? If you are just pray this sinners prayer of faith believing in Jesus with all your heart and soul and you shall be saved. just pray Dear Jesus, I know and confess that I am sinner in need of salvation. I believe you died on a cross at calvery and arose from the grave to wash away my sins, I ask you right now to come into my heart and save me, I pray this Prayer believing in the name of Jesus Amen. If you prayed this prayer with a sincere heart you are now a child of God, rejoice that your name is written in the Lambs book of Life. Jesus will now send his Holy Spirit to come and live in your heart and guide you into all truth. If you made a decision for Christ or have any questions, Please send me an email, God Bless YOU!!

Our job is to bring the good news of God's plan of salvation, not to end our lives and rush to heaven.

by this question are you asking why we dont all commit suicide to get there faster or why ppl dont accept a faith that will "ensure" that they get there at all? sort've confused but if it's the 2nd part (hoping it's not the first) not everyone believes in heaven...as a Christian, I feel that's a shame

Paul answers that exact question by saying basically, we are here for a reason, and we are here to bring honor and glory to God. Suicide doesn't neceassirily meant youre going to hell, hence, once a believer, youre sealed with eternity. But, as a believer you have to take everyday as a gift, and give everyday back to Him who gives us these gifts.
