I'm 16 years old, 5'4", about... 160 pounds =[ i know that's pretty bad. Winter just always makes me look like a snowman, but in the summer i lose weight, not much, but enough. I want to lose weight quick or at least at a good pace. I can't seem to stick to diets my mom places me on, I have heard so many ways to lose weight its crazy! I need something that i can commit to. Exercise is something I try to do in the summer a lot, but I have problems with my feet (arch is lower than most people) so i get tired easily. Should I exercise more often as much as I can take? Get a diet along with it? Help.

Stay away from diets and take a nutrition class.

Since you have problems with your feet, how about taking water aerobics? Or bicycling would be good too.

Stay active and eat smart. Here's a good site: mypyramid.com we used in my nutrition class. Dont deny yourself - just eat smaller portions.

A healthy amt of wt to lose is 2 pds a week. Never eat under 1200 calories a day or your metabolism will slow down to accomodate the fewer calories and you wont lose weight. Eat small portions and often. LOTS of veggies and fruit - limit fat intake to 30% or less of your total daily calories and no saturated or trans fats. Careful with sugar. Read labels.

Small things make a big difference - if you eat bread, make sure its 100% whole wheat.

if you drink milk, drink only 1% or skim

Cut WAY back on salt. Salt makes us puffy and makes us look fatter.

Use spray butter and spray salad dressing.

Instead of sourcream on your baked potato, use Tabasco sauce or something else you like thats not fattening.

Eat a fiber rich cereal everyday - either for breakfast or for dessert. (Fiber one, Raisin Bran, Shredded Wheat..etc.)

Go Girl! You can do it!!

Ok, what you're asking for doesn't exist... but you can change your body. First of all, look up your body type... do you have high metabolism... low metabolism? Also, how serious are you about losing weight? At 16, strict diets can be really tough. Try always thinking right before you eat; "Is this healthy?", "Do I need this? Can I do without?", also consider if it will fill you up long term or if there is a healthier substitute. Combine this with exercise (like crunches every night, start at a low number and increase). Work on your stomach, arms, and legs. If you keep a heathly attitude, you will get a healthy body.

This is something I know about. First, your arches. You can get arch supports... Dr. Sholls makes them and you can buy them at any drug store or grocery store. Also, dieting is hard to do and most likely your going to gain the weight right back. The key to losing weight is to change your diet. cancel out fatty foods, unnecessary foods like... yodels, twinkies even white bread. White bread is the worst because it just sticks to your stomach making it harder to get rid of a gut, Soda is the worst, it does the same thing that white bread does. It is not about eatting salads and starving, its about balancing your meals... making them healthier. You can still eat hamburgers just in moderation.
Exercising. Its not for everyone. But if you change your diet (canecelling out foods) and maybe walk a mile around the block or bike you will be able to shed unwanted and unneccesary pounds. Its winter now, so doing crunches in side or push ups (if you cant do push up, do knee push ups- they do the same thing). Also, do some free weights, lifting maybe five pound weights just to tone and work your arms.

Hope I helped.
Good Luck,
Kate

If you wear inserts in your shoes to improve the arch support (mine are completely flat) you can get plenty of exercise.
You can safely lose 2 pounds a week so aim for that. You need to find things you can stick with. So walk after dinner or run in the afternoon when you get home and feel sleepy. Then cut all the sugary foods out except on the weekends. Finally, when you do have food, use a smaller plate so you are only putting about 2/3rds of the food you normally would on it and the plate still looks fairly full. Eat that plateful and then wait 20 minutes to see if you are hungry still - normally you will not be. Remember - no deserts except on the weekend.

Any exercise, dancing, running, gym workouts, swimming, fast walking, anything, keep moving. I run to the car just to stretch my legs. Good trainers. Build up your muscles as this fastens your metabolism. You will find it tiring but you need to stick at it. Start of 3 days a week doing 30-60 Min's then build it up to 6 days 60 Min's a day. Fruit and yogurt in the morning, Chicken salad with 3,6,9 Omega oil and ground seeds sprinkled on the top. Salmon , broccoli, baby sweetcorn and new potatoes. Quiona, brown rice veg, veg, veg. Wholemeal bread with seeds instead of white bread. Lots of water, sports bottle. If you really want chocolate get dark good quality choc and break it into small pieces and put it in the cupboard and eat a few pieces a day as a treat in the evening. If you have a lapse, then try again, don't feel bad about and eat loads of junk food. Keep going. Check out www.ediets.com for tips and keeping you on track. Get obsessed about health.

Hi, you should try working out a couple times a day, and if you do get tired easily then only work out for about 30 each time to pace your self. When you eat look at the calories on the box and think to your self "will i regret it if i eat this much calories".
When you have an urge to eat a lot then chew some gum, it always helps.
When you go out to eat then try to stay away from greasy foods, or big portion plates. Get a salad w/ a little of your favorite food.
I hope i helped, if you have anymore questions contact me.

Find an exercise that gets your heart pumping for about 30-45 minutes a day and eat a good balanced healthy diet. Its a lifestyle change, not just a diet.

The quickest answer is to start thinking about what you want - being slim. The more you think about "not being fat" the more you will start to attract it. Your mind can't process a negative statement - the more you say to yourself "I don't want to be fat" you are actually saying to yourself "I want to be fat" as your subconscious doesn't understand the word "don't". You need to focus on getting slim and what life is like when you are slim. You get what you focus on!

I found a great program that teaches you step by step how to change your thinking about weightloss. It takes some time to eradicate those negative thoughts to think differently and this program teaches you how to do it. Go to www.ThinkAndLiveSlim.com

I hope this helps. Take it from me from experience, sort out this problem as soon as possible while you are young or face a lifetime of fighting a weightloss battle.
