ok, so I am trying to find ways to lose weight. I know some people say that this is a normal weight but I still fill fat. It seems like everything I try doesn't work. For the last three months I have been eating 500 calories or less (I know that’s not very healthy) at first it seemed to work I went down from 190 to 155 and now my weight wont change. Anyway, I am 17 and I’m a girl.

you are well on your way to becoming anorexic, suggest you knock off the 500 calorie thing and your obsession with losing more weight. The reason you can't lose now is because you have lost the weight too fast, now your body is conserving fat, and it will continue to do so, no matter how little you eat. It will literally start eating itself, burning muscle tissue before it will use fat or the food you eat. Silly girl, you've done a nasty number on your body and now you are going to pay for it. I suggest that you boost your intake to 1500 calories a day, a balanced diet, exercise regularly and give your poor body at least a year to come out of the shock you have put it into.

You cannot eat 500 calories and less to lose weight. Your body will go into hybernation which will in turn 'store' fat for survival. Your body is starving and that is why you can't lose any more weight. A lot of ppl have the misconception of "not eating will allow me to lose weight". It's false. To lose weight, you have to maintain a healthy metabolism and keep it going. To do that, you have to eat MORE. More healthy foods like veggies and fresh fruits. Five times a day, small meals each time will allow your body to burn calories, utilize your metabolism, and therefore allow you to start losing weight. Stay away from cokes completely. Drink tea, and water and some milk. 1% milk only, or skim. The carbination in cokes actually 'expand' your stomach. I learned this when I had my gastric bypass. I learned a lot of things I was doing wrong. I totally destroyed my metabolism with diet pills, and thinking that if I eat less I will lose weight. I was so wrong. I ended up gaining weight and once you gain weight to a certain point, it gets harder to lose it, while in the meantime so 'easy' to gain.
So small portion meals, five times a day, or three small meals with two snacks (healthy snacks), water, tea, and some milk along with regular exercise will help rebuild your metabolism and your weight will melt off!
Being 5'9" and 155, you're still in a healthy weight range. Your BMI (body mass index) is 22.9. That's great!
I hope this helps. :-) Take care.

As a doctor, your calculated BMI (body mass index) is 22.9. This is in the healthy weight range (usually 20-25). 25-30 is considered overweight, and > 30 is considered obese. Professionally speaking, I would not recommend that you continue the 500 calorie diet because it is extremely unhealthy and can lead to horrible consequences (such as metabolic disorders and other defiencies.) However, I would recommend that you eat healthy, small, portioned sized meals throughout the day (say every 3-4 hrs if possible), because this will increase your metabolism (which i suspect is in the dumps right now because you've been starving yourself). Also, i would recommend increasing exercise, say start walking daily for 30 minutes to build up your endurance. Then, when you feel able, increase the activity as tolerated. I hope this helps. If you have further questions or concerns though, I recommend that you seek your primary care doctor, who knows much more about your case. Take care.

500 calories a day? 500 calories a day causes your body to store fats not release it because the body goes into starvation mode. At most you need to lose about 8 punds.

Tips to losing weight:

1.) Drink more water- Many, many times the body confuses dehydration with huger. Make sure to drink at least 6 glasses of water a day.

2.) Slow down- Research shows you eat approximately 60 fewer calories per meal when you slow down your pace.

60 fewer calories X 7 days X 3 meals a day= 1,260 calories less a week

1,260 calories a week X 5 weeks= 6,300 less calories a month/ Almost 3 extra pounds

3.) Temptation- The best way to kick the junk food is to not buy it.

DO NOT EAT DIRT. That is incorrect, maliciously-intended advice.

DO exercise and eat more.
155lbs and 5'9 sounds fine, however I'm not sure what your body composition is (% of fat). Most likely, though you're in a safe range at that weight. as long as you are under 25%, I would not not make a concerted effort to lose a lot of fat quickly.

Furthermore, weight is not everything. Eating 500 calories a day is about 300 less than your body needs to function for one day if you are totally sedentary, meaning that your body is looking to your own body mas (muscles, organs, brain) and digesting fats and proteins comprising those to make up for those extra calories.

I would advise you to begin a moderate exercise program if you haven't already; 20 minutes a day 3 days a week is a good start.

Also remember it's not all about calories. Eating 1,000 calories of processed, sugar-and-fat filled food is far worse than eating 1,000 calories of complex carbohydrates, organic vegetables and fruits and foods not containing preservatives, added sugars, colorings, partially hydrogenated soybean oil and high-fructose corn syrup.

I'm a medical professional and the following formula is used to determine a persons Ideal Body Weight (IBW).

For girls: 105 + 5 x every inch over 60 inches (5ft).

Using that formula your IBW = 105 + 9 x 5 = 105 + 45 =
150 lbs. you are within 3.33% of your IBW. Quit eating low calories and eat healthy calories. Not many people, today, can say they are so close to their IBW. You are fine.

Sorry dear. Starving yourself isn't going to help you loose weight. You need to start walking, exercizing at home, and eating a good, balanced diet with lots of fruits and veggies. Eat small meals througout the day, rather than large meals. It will take some time, but you will start seeing results within a couple of months if you keep up with it. Good luck.

You have to do more than 500 calories. It was working but your body is now fighting it. You have to have some calories to burn in order to lose weight. Its weird but that is how it works.

Are you exercising? That is a more natural and healthy way to lose weight. Dont torture yourself on a treadmill, find something fun like tennis.
