It's his art. He has as much right to create it as the makers of the Golden Compass had a right to make THEIR art.
So... let's all kick censorship to the curb, aye?

I believe that all forms of media should have freedom of speech, no matter what religious views they profess. That is why it makes me angry that some people protest the production of movies like The Golden Compass or The Da Vinci Code. They claim that these movies are "attacking" their beliefs." By that argument, however, you could claim that a movie like your example, The Passion of the Christ, is "attacking" the faiths of Jews, who believe the Messiah has yet to come. I think everyone should just lighten up and not be so sensitive towards beliefs contradictory to their own.

I for one am not protesting the Golden Compass, I just don't plan to have my kids watch it. The United States is a free country, people can watch the movie if they want to. I am however letting other Christians know what its about so they can make an informed choice about it.
The Passion of the Christ *was* protested by a few, and made fun of by many. I liked the movie, but am not pleased with the director... but if God can speak through a donkey...

Because there is nothing wrong with talling a story, it's when you try to convert people to your way of thought and tell them everyone else is wrong, that is when we atheist get upset. It was a good movie anyways so why not go see it for the art of it?

Because everyone has a right to a voice and a belief. (even if someone doesn't agree with it).
Censorship is the start of a slippery slope that begins in censor and ends with a terror state.

Because freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc. etc. are atheist concepts. Gotta take the good with the bad.

Because then we would have been seen as intolerant of other religions.
I think I will go see the Golden Compass again. I need to make myself a little more atheist.
Truly people are dumb.

I thought it was inappropriate people took very young kids when it had graphic imagery, but I didn't protest.
I'm not an atheist though.

Personally, it's because I enjoyed the idea of people drooling over Jesus viciously beat to death and killed...and then saying that it strengthened their faith afterwards...and still having people amongst their ranks complaining about violence in the media....priceless.
