Sometime around a hundred thousand years ago or so, maybe sooner mankind as we know it developed from a single female, you can call her Eve. She lived in Africa and so probably resembled modern day Africans more than other "races". Her descendents began moving through the globe and several "civilizations" developed in relatively isolated environments. The different environments and climates were largely responsible for causing the physical differences we assocate with the various "races". If you were to go back 30 thousand years, each race would resemble the others significantly more than they do today.

According to the biblical account he was the first man so race as a concept would obviously not have been viable. So goes the story, human subsequently diversfied into different races, first after adam then after noah.

There is only one race and that is the entire human race.

From a scientific interview on this topic:
"There are no subspecies in the human beings that live today. So when we use the term race in the biological sense, there's no scientific support for such groups existing."

thesweeteststar: Lots of us know the story of the Tower of Babel, but it's not true, so we won't suggest it as a factual answer to a question.

From a biblical point of view, technically the races of man stemmed from the sons of Noah. Since according to the bible the FLOOD killed off everything else save the family of Noah. In the generation following the FLOOD, the sons of Noah opted to build their 'tower of babel", Genesis 11.

God is said to have found objection to this man made creation, so God is said to have come down CONFUSED the WORD (some revised translational bibles use the term Language, but one should note that following the FLOOD there were only like 8 people all speaking the same Language. In aramaic (the hewbrew language), language and WORD are also the same term.) AND God is said to have scattered his people all over the world. So technically according to the bible, all the people of the world are of the SAME people and of the SAME god--we just have a CONFUSE WORD that separates us.

BTW--according to OT prophesy, god is said not to restore the WORD until the 'Day of Judgement'. Zeph 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.

One interpretation of the bible was that man was created on the sixth day, and those were the other races. Adam and Eve didn't come along til after God rested from creation week.

I can't answer both your questions, but since man (Adam) was made in God's image, a better question would be, what race is God?

Darwinian evolution was (and still is) inherently a racist philosophy, teaching that different groups or ‘races’ of people evolved at different times and rates, so some groups are more like their ape-like ancestors than others.

Scientists today admit that, biologically, there really is only one race of humans. For instance, a scientist at the Advancement of Science Convention in Atlanta in 1997 stated, ‘Race is a social construct derived mainly from perceptions conditioned by events of recorded history, and it has no basic biological reality.’

‘Racial characteristics’ are only minor variations among the people groups. Scientists have found that if one were to take any two people from anywhere in the world, the basic genetic differences between these two people would typically be around 0.2 percent—even if they came from the same people group. But, these so-called ‘racial’ characteristics that many think are major differences (skin color, eye shape, etc.) account for only 6 percent of this 0.2 percent variation, which amounts to a mere 0.012 percent difference genetically.
