New at this-Not sure if the same rules apply regarding the warping and wrinkling, is a pad of watercolor any different then reg. watercolor paper you buy separately? Thanks!!

It's called a block, and you paint without removing it from the block. When you soak it you have to stretch it, secure it to a drawing board, etc. With a block you just paint, let it dry and frame it. Simple.

No, no soaking needed.

The whole point of a pad is that it is pre stretched and should remain flat during work but certainly be flat again after it has dried. Admittedly that only works with expensive and heavy paper.

You should only remove your painting from the pad after it has completely dried. Theoretically it must have the same shape (flat) as when you started out.

no you dont have to strech water color paper that comes from a pad. if you mean sepreately as in sheets, it can be the same, or it can be differnt. if the pad and the sheet are both the same lbs and hot or cold pressed, than there the same.

In my experience, it still wrinkles when it comes from a pad.
