A down payment on a house or an IRA. A car gets you from point A to point B. Why does getting there need to cost so much.

The GS is a nice car, Lexus makes a very comfortable refined if somewhat boring car. I havent looked at any Infinity's recently they just dont interest me at all. I would reccomend looking at the Audi A6. Audi interiors are always top rated and I love the way they drive. The quattro all wheel drive is great too if your anywhere that gets bad weather. The BMW 5 series also falls in that price range. If you are looking for something a little smaller, for 45ish you can get a loaded Audi A4 or BMW 3 series.
I would reccomend at least driving one of the germans. I prefer them because they tend to be sporty and more fun while still being very comfortable on long trips. They also feel like they are build much more solid. Slam one of the doors and listen to what it sounds like. I have had several Japanese cars including Acura and Lexus. Since I switched to German I havent looked back. (note Mercedes not mentioned, they are ok, but I think their quality has been going downhill lately)

I would go with the Civic or Sentra. But also depends on the amt. of miles and the year. Honda's last a long time and the Sentra will last a while also as long as it has been taken care of. If the sentra is a 03 or 04 have someone you trust take a look at it before you buy it cause they usually have problems with the computers(my dad is the GM of a Nissan service department) Mustangs are also typically pretty good cars also. Just be sure to do your research and don't buy the first thing you see, shop around some and you will find a good deal. Good Luck!

An F450. But then again, I would use it for towing my toys.
Ever look at BMW's? They make very nice cars. They handle well, and are fun to drive. The manual transmissions a butter smooth and make shifting less of a chore and more like fun. The automatics aren't as much fun, but when is an automatic transmission fun?

I would chose the Lexus. I have rode in a lot of luxury cars and nothing beats the ride of a Lexus.

The two cars you are looking at are great. I would spend my money on a honda or a toyota. They hold there resale value better than most cars on the market today.
