That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice. - Genesis 22:17,18.

JESUS CHRIST

2007-12-07 11:35:20 · answer #1 · answered by hghostinme 6 · 5 2

Christ.

Rom 9:7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
Rom 9:8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

Gal 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Gal 3:7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

The apostle Paul identified God’s promised Seed when he wrote: “The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. It says, not: ‘And to seeds,’ as in the case of many such, but as in the case of one: ‘And to your seed,’ who is Christ.” (Galatians 3:16) The Seed through whom the nations were to bless themselves did not include all of Abraham’s offspring. Descendants of his son Ishmael and of his sons by Keturah were not used to bless mankind. The Seed of blessing came through his son Isaac and his grandson Jacob. Jacob showed that “peoples” would be obedient to Shiloh of the tribe of Judah, but the Seed was later restricted to David’s lineage. 2 Samuel 7:12-16 First-century Jews expected one person to come as the Messiah, or Christ. (John 7:41, 42) And God’s prophecy of the Seed was fulfilled in his Son, Jesus Christ.

At times the term seed refers to a large number of descendants ( as in 13:16 ); at other times it refers to one unique descendant, the Coming One ( as here, also Gal. 3:16 ) Here the seed was Isaac.

Through whose seed will all nations of the earth be blessed?
That scripture is referring to Abraham. Lots of answers of Christ. This doesn't make sense because Christ didn't father children.

These verse came right after the story of Abraham’s offering of Isaac, which he passed by faith in God. "Thy seed" then are believers who shall "possess the gate of his enemies." Believers, by their faith, overcome the world, and triumph over all the powers of darkness, and are more than conquerors.
