My brother wants a PS3 I can't afford to buy him one - wish i could! My husband says buy him a ps3 controller so that when he comes round ours (which he does often) he can play two players. I think that's cruel and he'll spend all xmas day excitied expecting us to be playing a sick joke on him and end up giving him a ps3 in the evening. My husband is arguing it's a great idea and he'll like.
What do you think?
P.S Please state if you're a ps3 owner or non owner as this will make a difference!! :-)

Actually he works very hard but he spends all his money on his wife and kids and refuses to treat himself to anything as he feels he could be using the money better elsewhere

I don't own a ps3.. i have a sister though..
I don't care what she buys me.. it's the thought that counts..
if he wants one so badly.. let him get off his a** and get a job and earn the price of one..

I have a PS3(Can't open till Christmas though, so I don't know if this will help you). That would be kinda messed up if he was really thinking you were going to give him a PS3 in the evening after giving him a controller in the morning or whatever. I would think you were joking(and would give me the PS3 later that night) so if I were you, I wouldn't even go there. I would get your brother something completely different for Christmas, but get the controller for him and don't say anything until he comes to play your PS3. This way it may be easier on him hopefully!

I own a PS3 and I have to admit, that's a little cruel. It would be different if he owned his own PS3 and your husband bought him a PS3 controller. But on the positive side, that will make him want to get his own PS3 a whole lot more.
Although you said he spends most of his money on his wife and kids, just tell him that everyone needs to treat themselves to something special because he has worked hard and deserves to buy himself a PS3.

Just tell him and if he is mature enough he will understand. Then ask if he wants a controller so you can play together.
Or buy him a Wii or an Xbox 360. A PS3 is a lot to ask for off your sibling as is any console really! He shouldn't have expected so much!

I AM a ps3 owner and I think that it is a good present because maybe when he saves up enough money then he can get one!!
My friend had bar mitzah and I got him warhawk for the ps3 as a present. He calls me a week later saying that he bought the ps3 with the money from his party and he loves war hawk.

I wouldnt say cruel, but it would be dissapointing. But I would understand why your husband would say its better to buy him a controller, PS3 right now cost alot... If you want to get just a controller, I dont see the present as his because he has to go to your place to play. It would be better to give him something else, perhaps the Nintendo Wii or Xbox 360? They are more affordable at the moment and their games are also more cheaper than PS3 games due to Blue Ray disc.

If your brother has a wife and kids, then I'm sure he's old enough to get over not getting a PS3. Don't get him a controller, it does sound cruel.
I'm a non-owner, but I've got PS2.

I am a PS3 owner I got mine the day it came out. and I was so excited if I would have got a controller instead of the system that would have been a big slap in the face.

we got one - personally I agree with you, its a bit mean and can back fire!!
By all means buy yourselfs an extra controller for when he comes round but not as a gift for him that is way too cruel!

If you say what it's for, he won't expect more, but I think its an open invitation for him to come over. buy him a ps2 game instead.
