Last night my 2 year old went to bed about 10pm(ususal bedtime is 8:30-9:00pm) and woke up at 4am, stayed awake until about 6am (stayed in bed). I woke him up at 7am for daycare. While I was at work I got a call from the daycare and the sitter said my son was running a temp and he seems to be "out of it". She said it was like he just shut down, would not respond to her and very cranky. She said he reminded her of a person with Diabetes who need their meds and suggested that I take him to the hospital immediately.
He was not feverish when I picked him up so I took him home to monitor him. Before we could get home he was sleep and has been sleep for 2 hours already. I am going to take him to see his Dr. tomorrow, But my question is has anyone ever notice strange change in their child behavior from lack of sleep. Please comment and tell me what you think, seriously please.

well staying up late doesn't give you a fever. but he might have not been sleeping well because he was sick. and if he had been exposed to germs anyway, the lack of sleep may have prevented him from fighting them off effectively.

on the other hand, since he oddly had no fever when you picked him up even though the daycare said he was running a fever, i would wonder if he was just tired and distracted and "out of it" just from being sleepy, and whether they made up the fever part so that you had to come get him....

Take your son to the emergency room or his medical professional asap. A fever in a young little one cannot be triggered by means of fatigue, and his different signs are worrisome. Crankiness would certainly be precipitated by way of lack of sleep, however non-responsiveness & fever cannot. I would have him checked as soon as that you may. You cannot gamble with a baby that younger - it would be nothing, but it might be whatever serious, espeically with a lot going around at the moment of 12 months. Good success! Hope he's adequate.

Of course! Kids are the same as adults. If you don't get enough sleep you are out of it right? Kids can be too - and remember - kids needs like 10-12 hours of sleep a night, so clearly he did not get enough sleep last night. It's possible he may be getting a cold or the flu - it is that time of year.
