I've tried going on the internet I wouldnt just trust what anyone says much less people on the internet but I cant find anything thats why I asked. And I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years and he just turned 24. Just because my age is 17 doesnt mean my maturity is. I'm in college, taking care of my sister and brother, going to the hospital outta town I'm too mature to be 17 and I get accused of lying about my age constantly.

You need to go to the official site for the government of Florida. They should have a link to the current edition of Florida's Code (whatever name they call it) as well as to any laws passed by the Florida Legislature during the past several sessions. If not, go down to your local library. They should have a copy of the current code somewhere in the reference area.

From a 1996 article: "In Florida, where the State Legislature this month passed two bills that are awaiting the governor's signature to strengthen statutory rape provisions and define as reportable child abuse any relationship between a man 21 or older who gets a girl under 16 pregnant, some legislators said their goal was to scare older men away from young girls. Others envisioned imprisonment for the most predatory violators and a rise in public awareness that could lead to more reporting of the offenses. "

I also found this on another site: "Florida rewrote one of its laws so that persons 24 or older are prohibited from having sex with 16- and 17-year-olds." http://www.ojp.usdoj.gov/ovc/publications/infores/statutoryrape/handbook/find.html

And on a message board, a reference to the actual statute: "794.05 Unlawful sexual activity with certain minors.--

(1) A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084." http://www.moraloutrage.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=253&sid=82c1ce6ea8f7dbab7841b17b4a54146e

The way most of these couples are found out to be breaking the law is one of the set of parents (usually the girls) will report the man and charge him with the rape.
The police have enough to do than run around checking IDs on all dating couples.

well no one can figure that out for you except yourself. try going onto your state's website or try to access any new laws that were passed in january. that may help. asking questions specific to your state is not very easy to answer, especially since people around the world are liable to answering your question.
