You said Scottish-Irish. When someone says that I am not sure if they mean they are 1/2 Scottish and 1/2 Irish or if what has been identified in the U.S. as Scotch-Irish. These were people whose ancestry when they came to the U. S. were racially Scottish but geographically they came from Ireland, mostly County Antrim. They were Scots who were planted in Ireland during the reign of Elizabeth I after the flight of the O'Neill and O'Donnell earls.
My father was both orange and green.

Italian from daddy's side, German, Irish, Swedish, Swiss, etc. from mom's. Basically, I'm European. From just about every country but France, if I recall correctly.

For the past 4 generations (back to the early 1800s) American, going on back, Welsh and English. From there, it goes all across Europe, parts of the Middle East, Africa, Australia, South America, Oceania, you name it.
And, of course, several Indian tribes plus Eskimos and Innuit.
I have no doubt that if you can go back to even 10 generations you will encounter a similar event. I am descended from Scotts and Irish; they (and all the British Isles) had ancestors for Denmark, Norway, Germany...
