I would start off the day by getting inexpensive flowers (grocery stores usually sell-I enjoy receiving a single rose, it's the thought) and a card and writing just how you feel. Ex: I recently received one that stated how things were in the beginning of our relationship, but then hand written was added that our lives have gotten so hectic, he hasn't forgotten how much I'm still loved and the same feelings are still in his heart, just never time to express or show. And time needs to be made for caring moments. Etc. It meant alot! Depending on how old the daughter is, the flowers could be for both of them, but I would suggest getting her just a little something, as well, and card, also, to tell her how much you care and know the moves been rough, like I mentioned, depending on age. Then, plan a day for them. Since it's Christmas time, where I live they have many events, such as one little town, not to far, has unbelievable Christmas lights to tour the town and see. Another, is a parade of decorated boats. If you look, they are out there. And then, maybe dinner, even if it's at McDonald's, or you (if you cook) prepare something special. Or, a picnic in the park. Then, rent a Holiday movie, or if can afford go see one. I heard "Fred Claus" is good, but not sure of age on it. So, good luck. Sounds like your heart is in the right place and know you'll work out a good day.

Well, I can certainly relate to what you are saying. When my wife and I first started dating it was a challenge to find something to do that would entertain her two young daughters as well as give us all quality time together and not empty my wallet. I read some of the comments and a few people suggested the zoo. My advice is unless its a free day at the zoo there is nothing inexpensive about it at all. Atleast not the zoo im my area. One thing I found that was always a good idea and that the girls really enjoyed was simply going to the beach or hiking through the woods if you have trails around you. Its exercise, its free, and you all spend the day together. But no matter what you plan remember that your girlfriend will probably appreciate any effort you make to simply spend the day with her and her daughter. Its not just the day she will always remember but the gesture of it all as well.

Spend a day together. Pack a lunch and go to the park. If you live in a city with an Ice Rink, go skating. Or if there is snow, go sledding. Take a thermos of some hot chocolate and yummy snacks. If you don't have a Christmas tree yet, go pick one out as a family and get some decorations and put on some Christmas music and start decorating. My family always used to go out to eat as a family on Friday nights. During the holiday season, we would drive around and look at all the Christmas lights.

Check you local guides but a lot of museums, etc. have a free or reduced rate day. That always makes for a great and inexpensive outing, especially with the daughter involved. From that you can window shop and indulge in some chocolate treats along the way. I would finish the day with a simple dinner type theme that you prepared yourself. Dont forget the candle and appropriate beverages.

Take them for a walk or bus trip to see the sights in your new home. Dress for the weekend and try to see the coolest parts of town, with lots of stuff going on. Then, when you get home, give them some hot chocolate and make a delicious, satisfying meal. After that, maybe some card games or board games? You could look up rules for a card game nobody has played before, and try it out. If you have new friends in your new town, invite them over. There are many options! Enjoy your holiday.
