I have a 'friend' that is disturbing me. I remember him telling me how he never wants children and dosent like children and would never have any of his own but i recently overheard him saying how he hates children and would want to kick them, throw stuff at them and hurt them if he could. When i heard this it didnt sound like a joke. What i want to know is what would cause such a horrible attitude towards children? If you dont like them fine but why talk about wanting to commit violence against them? Where would this stem from?

You don't say how old he is, but no matter, yes it is disturbing to be sure.

Most likely he comes from a very dysfunctional abusive home where HE was kicked, thrown, hurt, etc. (as he described) and he needs some psychological counseling.

Suggest he get some help for his problem, let him know it is a problem in no uncertain terms. Ask him if he was abused as a child. That should wake him up a little.

If he is an adult, you may want to ensure he has no contact with children alone. If you want to take it further, speak to law enforcement about him as a precautionary measure.

He obviously has deep seated issues that need to be dealt with. Maybe he didnt have a happy childhood and therefore this has caused him to be full of hate towards children. Children are so innocent and defenceless, how could anyone have so much contempt towards them, especially when they have done nothing wrong to him. He must really hate the person that he has become to have such hatred in his heart. It wouldnt hurt to talk to him and to find out why he feels this way. Hopefully he will grow out of this immature phase sometime soon.

Fear of children usually indicates a fear of not being in control of a situation. You just never know what a child may say or do. But your friend apparently has a very severe form of it that I would think almost borders on psychosis! If you really feel that he is serious, you might want to talk to someone in authority like the police, since I doubt he will get help on his own.

He might have had some sort of bad child hood, ok we all could say I was treated bad by other kids, but maybe he has suppressed rage against children from his past so he hates all children. Hurting little kids or talking about it is not funny or ok. Maybe he should get some help.

where such an attitude stems from is his problem not yours, and he definitely does have a problem. if this person is a "friend", then you should urge him to get some therapy for his attitude.
