If you have a nasty hangover, its a reminder of the good time you had the night before, kind of like a souvenir. It is in the same vein as a person telling a sports story and showing a scar from an injury suffered.

People are PROUD of having hang overs? I've never heard that. Once and a while my mother will get a hangover, but she won't go around saying "**** yeah! I got a hangover again!" That would most likely make the headache worse. Most people just stay in bed and take some advil until their heads stop hurting. I guess the people who ARE proud of hangovers think "wow, I drunk so many beers that my head hurts. I must have a very high tolerance to whisky!" But, somehow I doubt that.

Someone else said it right -- for those in thier 20s, it's a badge of honor. They are proud they were out until 2-3 in the morning, but still managed to crawl into the office reeking of booze and hurting like a mo-fo.

What they don't realize is that once you hit 30, those hangovers hit harder and aren't as easy to bounce back from. And when you have kids in your face at 6:30 in the morning, that makes it even worse....

i'm still in college and i hate hangovers... it's not like you're doing anything different, MANY people go to the bars until last call and stumble out and do more drinking, it's not like it's any different from everyone else. so i'm not really sure what other people are saying about how it's a "badge" of honor... i guess i could understand it, but for me, it's more like i really like the night before and the hangover the next day is more of a by product of having fun.

I'm not too sure...maybe to boast about how much alcohol they have been drinking. I guess some people might think they seem 'cool' for drinking and having a hangover is proof that they have been drinking a lot. I don't think all people are proud of having them...I'm certainly not!

For some men, they think it's a sign of their manliness. But it's actually just a sign of their weakness. To see who can drink the most, vomit the most and get worst hangover. A bit like who can eat the hottest chili or curry. I used to see this a lot as I used to drink and smoke, many years ago. All my family used to. Now I hate pubs, but still drink a little at home. My Father had a real alcohol problem, but he would never admit to it.

I think that people that are proud of hangovers are most likely to be younger .They probably are bragging to there friends about getting drunk the nigh before. That is all i can think of because hangovers are not very much fun. i hope this was helpful to you.

the honest truth is that people are stupid and that people are liars. People who are at work the day after bragging about their hang over are not really all that hungover. they might be a little tired, they might have cotton mouth, maybe even a little headache...but that is not a real "turn off the lights I have to pee blood now" hangover. Those people are lame. They just want you to know that they like to party.

Because they are immature and assume that because they got wrecked last night that makes them worthy of respect.

Having been a barmaid for years I've seen just about every type of drunk you could imagine. I've seen them make fools of themselves, fall over, vomit, wet themselves, get into fights and some of the women I've seen put themselves in potentially dangerous situations. Its not big and its not clever. If only people could see what complete t*ts they look when they are really drunk they'd soon think twice about doing it again.
