If you were diagnosed with the flu and now your mother is sick it is likely that she caught the flu from you. Her body is just a little older and takes a little longer to heal itself. However, if she is unable to keep water down then she is at risk of becoming dehydrated and that should be your number one concern. If drinking water makes her vomit then try offering her small ice chips to suck on.

It sounds like you are getting over your stomache virus and your mom has now caught it.

People react different to the offending virus. One person may have a day or two of diarrhea and vomiting and get over most of it. While others may experience the symptoms for a much longer period and perhaps to a greater degree.

Kids are often able to fight off infections faster then older people.

No, your mom does not have lead posioning. Have you seriously ever even known anyone who has ever had Lead posioning? The news has been regarding children's toys from China that have been found to have lead.

Give your mom time, she will get over this bug.

Factors to consider here:

1. There is no such thing as "stomach flu." "Stomach flu" is the popular name for gastroenteritis, or inflammation/irritation of the stomach due to bacteria and/or viruses. Yep, it sounds like you had gastroenteritis http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/viral-gastroenteritis/DS00085. You can call it the "stomach flu" if you want. After vomiting for 2 days, you have that right!

2. Your mom probably caught the gastroenteritis from you. Although you were only sick for 2 days, your mom is older (like me). Her immune system may not be as young and healthy as yours!

3. No, you're not overreacting. You obviously care about your mom. It is not likely that this is lead poisoning. If you're still concerned, read a good article on lead poisoning at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/lead-poisoning/FL00068.

True "flu", or influenza, is a respiratory viral disease. It does not cause nausea/vomiting, although you can become nauseated from the high fever and body aches that it does cause.

The Flu? No way. Sounds like viral gastritis. Another term for food poisoning. I've never heard of vomiting and diarrhea from the flu. Maybe a headache and a cold.

It's probably just the flu...sounds like she got hit worse than you did. But definitely if it keeps up she should go to the ER. You shouldn't have the flu for 5 days - a week.

Its probably going through your house and everyone has the flu. If she has a high fever or can't keep fluids down you need to go the ER. That many days without fluids is dangerous...
GOOD LUCK and I hope y'all feel better.

Your mom has picked up what you had. Just make sure she gets enough fluids so she doesn't dehydrate

your mom probably caught what you had, it is just harder on people the older they are.
