it depends on 3 main things. the body composition of the person and the food item being consumed and the quantity.

the metabolic rate increases during the 1st sleep cycle. then steadily declines lower and lower until it reaches it's lowest point right before waking. the difference between the resting metabolic (RMR) and the sleeping metabolic rate (SMR) depends on the amount of muscle mass that the person has, muscle mass is biologically active 24 hours a day.

that being the case a lean person can eat most anything right before bed with out fear of weight gain over the long or short term. a person with a high amount of body fat would not want to eat right before bed.

Completely depends. You need to eat something your body has to work hard at digesting for it to be healthy, like celery or an apple. Eating junk food, or something heaving in carbs or fat is not healthy.

Not really. Your metabolism slows at night when you sleep. Plus laying down with a full stomach can cause you to have GER.

you wont burn the calories as quicker as if you sat in a chair. Sitting burns calories , and so does sleeping but you see my point.

I wouldn't say that it is exactly unhealthy, but you don't burn those calories off when you are sleeping.
