There is this kid I know who we found out lied about his age and even lied and said he had a child. Lied about where he worked and it got to the point we cant belive one word he says now, and keeps changing his story. Why do people do that?

Because their insecure with themselves basically
and they dont think that anyone will like them for who they are
so they try to be something ther not

Emotionally weak people lie to fill in this Gap and holes in their hearts , they are as weak as a Cold virus is - i.e. Dead without people to host - , So , here is the deal , if you don't wanna believe him anymore its your own business , if you felt humanily and just wanted to gain a person rather than losing him then you can do the following !
Touch his heart , Find the hole in his heart and fill it , Show him that someone -at least one- cares for him , Show him how this person is hurt of his lies , Show him love respect care and even more , show him that he exists somewhere in your heart
Thats all , I think !
p.s. I have been there ,where that kid is now ... I lied as much as I breathed , not to impress people as I thought and people thought , I lied to get emotions , to let people know that there existed a kid with hopes and feelings !
the cure I told you was exactly the thing that got me out of this mess , I never told a lie since then . !

This young person has some big problems. Instead of ragging on him/her, try to find out if there is something you can do to help. This person needs to get help before the lies get to big and they get hurt or worse. How would you feel then? Get them some professional help or something. This person needs attention to fill some sort of hole in their life. Reach out before its too late!
