He's waiting for you to listen. Open a bible and begin reading. Those are His words.

Hey Kerryann,
well I guess it depends on what you mean by talking to you. Do you mean like audibly talking to you like you would talk to a friend. That does an can happen, but I would say is more rare in our culture. Some ways I have seen God speak to me.
Reading - this could be reading the bible, Christian books, or just books in general.
Television - I have learned some great lessons that I truly believe are from God from some of the most unlikely sources from God. But then again I look for them on there often.
Silence - this sounds a little weird. Sometimes we can't here God because we never slow down and we need to just stop, take a breathe and think and reflect on God. Use some of that God given logic.
People - God speaks to us all the time through other people, we get encouraged, taught, loved etc from others. I believe God puts people in our paths for just that reason.
The thing about these is, you have to make an effort to look for God in these different areas. So I would say God is talking to you, maybe you just don't know where to look.
As for "do you need to be pure" the Bible does encourage us to stress for purity, but I know I myself am not 100% pure and I am a pastor and God still seems to talk to me. He wants us to follow Him, He knows and understands we will fall down, mess up, but get up and keep going.
Hope that helps, be encouraged, your not alone in feeling this way...

It has nothing to do with purity (god talked to impure people all the time in the bible, such a Paul (when he was a pharisee killing christians), Adam and Eve (after they sinned), Cain (after he killed his brother), etc. Please ignore any ignorant answers that say otherwise.
I don't know. Maybe god doesn't care about any of us anymore, or maybe he doesn't exist, or maybe he has a good reason not to. I don't think anyone knows. For now, you must rely on yourself to get you through any tough times you may be having. Then maybe someday, if god exists, he'll stop being such a jerk (assuming he is one, which I don't know for sure).

God talks to everyone. It is only for you to listen. Stop thinking about yourself for a few minutes and think about God.

when i first became Christian, i had that problem
just listen, look for signs, be patient.
nobody can suceed in being completly pure.
so dont beat yourself up for that.
i just had a thought, why does God banish people to hell for sinning when he doesnt expect us to be pure in the first place?
kinda depressing, but yeah, just listen

I think he's been talking, you just talk too much. Shutup sometimes after you pray, just stay there and listen. You did all that talking while praying, what makes you think he's not talking back?

you should ask yourself: are you really listening?
have filtered out all the noises of the world and really listened for Him? maybe He is talking to you, but you're just too distracted.
For God was not in an earthquake, or the lightening, or the storm, but in the calm and quiet.

could be any of the following that you need to do:
1. repent of something(s)
2. be sincere
3. read the bible
4. obey whatever you are convicted He wants you to do
5. pray and claim His promises
6. make peace with yourself, your fellow humans, and God
these are the things i've had to do to prepare my heart to hear His voice. i hope it helps you.

You can only hear God if you are truly trying to hear him. Many people say their listening to God; yet they are blocking him out because they don't want to hear what he has to say.
