"People say to me, You were a roaring success. How did you do it? I go back to what my parents taught me. Apply yourself. Get all the education you can, but then, by God, do something. Don't just stand there, make something happen."
"God's plan made a hopeful beginning. But man spoiled his chances by sinning. We trust that the story will end in God's glory. But, at present, the other side's winning."
"Man is not only a contributory creature, but a total creature; he does not only make one, but he is all; he is not a piece of the world, but the world itself; and next to the glory of God, the reason why there is a world."
"We may seek God by our intellect, but we only can find him with our heart."

It is a very short poem by Joice Kilmer. He wrote it in admiration of God's creation. It begins
I think that I shall never see,
A poem lovely as a tree,
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts it's leafy arms to pray.
Sorry, it has been many decades since I read it and I can remember no more. From a faulty memory, I think that he was killed young in WW1. What a loss!
Just a bit more.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed
Against th e earth's sweet flowing breast.

The work of artists can never be compared to the works of the Deity. (Of course, man is made by God!)
From Trees by Joyce Kilmer:
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.

it's an excerpt from the poem "The Tree" isnt it?
it's saying that since a tree is a magnificent creation, only God can make it. Writers like her are fools for they can only write about it.
