Did you that was probably 3000 years ago, I think things have changed a little, if you were in the middle east you could say that but in america things have changed huh, the Gideon Society today is an outstanding Christian Organization. They pass out Bibles all over the world. Please read the Gospel of John in the New Testament, learn about the Love of Jesus, He died on a Cross for you at Calvery so that you might live in Heaven someday if you believe in Him. He gives you the choice, let Jesus and the Bible touch your heart, start attending Church, you might just be surprised at how much you enjoy it.

amily values thousands of years ago and accepted family values today are very different. Did he take good care of all of his children? Was he a good husband and provider? this is what's important. Having many wives and Mistresses was accepted behavior in those times. It is not now, at least I hope not. The Gideons of today simply hope that some lost soul will pick up one of their bibles and find the way. At least I think so. I may be Pagan, but I try to think the best of everyone until they give me a reason not to. The Gideons have never given me any reason to dislike them and have always been polite and much less pushy than many other Christian faiths have been.

Well, no, the reason the Gideons put those Bibles in hotel rooms is for people to use when they need them. So if you needed that Bible it is serving its purpose. In the same token it is good to pay forward some good because you received good from that Bible and the good in your heart will probably make you feel like doing some good to help someone else. Actually doing good for others helps most people more than it helps the people they are trying to help. It's cool that way, thank you, Jesus for that! :)

Please keep in mind that Christianity is an extremely paternalistic faith, with no particular love of women. Seventy-one sons (and presumably seventy-odd daughters) is about as much family as any one man could ever manage to "demonstrate." The feminist sensitivities of modern women simply did not exist when Gideon was expressing his incredible virility, nor were women held in particularly high esteem when the Book of Judges was written -- long before Christ.

No, it is not.
The Gideons have done a lot of good distributing Bibles amd New Testaments throughout the world.
What good have you done lately? It looks to me as if all you do is promote discord.
I don't notice that your questions demonstrate family values. Most of them attack Christians. You surely don't spread cheer and good will.
You look for negative things rather than positive. What a sad life!
Don't you think that you're prejudiced? I do.

No. No one said Gideon was a perfect person. The Bible's surprisingly honest about the failings of all its major characters - Moses, Abraham, Jacob, David etc. Jesus is the exception, obviously, since he didn't have any failings.
