I had to go take a drug test for a new job today. They did urine and hair samples. I have never done a drug in my life, but my stepdad smokes weed. Will the residue from him doing it show up in my hair? I live out in a room in the garage so am hardly ever in the house anyway, except to shower and use the bathroom. I'm just gonna be REALLY pissed if I don't get this job because of his drug use.

Also, I had a minor lip surgery last week and was given Lortab for the pain. I only took two on the first day to help with the aching, and none after that (I still have 28 left). I hate putting drugs in my body, so I dealt with the pain after the first day. I can provide the bottle to them as proof of this... They can't deny me a job because of that, right?

The weed your step dad does won't show up in your hair (Usually has to be in your blood stream and comes out in the hair follicle). I am in HR and if you provide the reason the test is negative for a legal perscribed drug everything will be fine (the reason being surgery). Get the Dr. to call the HR office.

FOr the first the first poster is correct. For the second if you have a prescription for the medicine you cannot be disqualified for it as it was prescribed for you by a doctor after surgery

Depending on the strength of the test. If it shows up, tell them to test the percentile in your hair. They'll be able to tell if it's second hand or first hand.

You should be fine. Try not to be in the same room or to close to any room when he is smoking, since second hand "smoke" will so up.
