Walk around saying offensive things about other peoples religion and very mean things to people who are gay, and then when someone says, that is what I believe and just let me practice that and you can practice your own faith, the person who was doing the former flips out and says "stop persecuting me"
I have seen exactly 16 people do this.
Why did these people do this.

For the Christians who will say I am stereotyping them, please read the question.

A lot of people get caught up in Religious routine. Thats all they require from Religion to feel comfortable in their sense of value. Wear your whitest whites on sunday and you are a good person...

Those that read the word of God know that you are not supposed to discriminate. You are supposed to love your neighbor and offer him advice. A desire to "witness" to people we feel are not saved is borne from love. When a person is receptive to this advice, I give it, if a person is comfortable with their life as it is, my words would be wasted and I don't speak for the purpose of hearing my own voice.

"Mainstream Christianity" hasn't figured out the "Hate the sin, love the sinner" approach to dealing with Homosexual people. I don't like homosexuality, but I don't like lying or any other sin either. I look at all people as fallible, and I don't give special weight and attention to specific sins because I have my own to worry about... Oh yeah, and cuz God said so. A persons sexuality is between them and God, and is such a small peice of who they are as a person, that it is pure folly to discriminate against them.

Some people are just judgemental. But I can't tell you what someone else's motivations are, not even other Christians. If you've seen exactly 16 people do this, then discuss it with them personally. You'd get a better idea this way.

Some people whether they claim to be Christian, Muslim, Athiest, Agnostic, Jewish, (or just pick any other) are imperfect and have not learned to PRACTICE what they preach. They might talk the talk but have difficulty walking the walk. That is why we should learn patience, forgiveness, and kindness.

A fun fact of life is that people are just people - some with inclinations towards being overly judgmental and aggressive with their opinions. Every group on earth has them.

Those Christians who say that Homosexuality is wrong and that abortion is wrong. Speak the truth. Those who believe that we are being mean. I say, you should open your bibles and actually study the word of God.

Because they're hateful bitter people. And it doesn't matter what they 'believe'--be it Christianity, Islam, Atheism, Wicca, Vodoo, Aristotlean philosohy...they will always be hateful bitter people especially against those who don't share their views

we should not be disrespectful Paul wrote to be gentle and reverent giving the hope that is in you. Somtimes when you love somthing deeply you have to express it in the only way they know, its not his way Christ did it with respect and love for all, right where they were at, he hung out with prostitutes drunks gays etc..etc... did he want them to change and follow bible YES did he demand it and shout them down no. he loved them>
