Dont fret about the dinosaur. Science has lots of discoveries, and evidence from which they have derived a dogma, a fanatical truth that must be absolute - according to science.
Keep your mind open, scientists and the media spout off for awhile, and often look moronic when more evidence causes them to rethink what they have so adamantly taught. Science is not an absolute truth.
Science used to say the world was flat too. The fact that we, and dinosaurs, came from slime in some primordial swamp is not a fact, it's theory. The facts are, we know dinosaurs existed, and we do too.
Time will tell which one is right, I believe in God, and He said ''in those days he would allow them to believe a lie which people would use to justify their godless acts."

Here it is, plain and simple. It does not matter what this guy thinks. It was rude of him to bring this up in the first place (unless you had started the topic of religion or had joined in a conversation about it). Let him have his choice and you keep yours. Follow what you want as long as you do not bring harm and do not force your beliefs on others and not give up your own identity.
Now, if you are curious about the whole thing then do some research. There are many christians who believe in evolution and believe that dinosaurs roamed the planet millions of years ago before man. They do not strictly interpret the bible. They believe that parts are accurate descriptions and other parts are fictional tales told with a purpose.
Besides, you could have asked him what in the world "Dinosaur theory" is. In science, dinosaurs are not theory. It would seem this guy does not understand what a theory is.

There are many different explanations or theories out there...
1)Old Earth...God created man as an adult and all of the animals as adults, so He created the earth complete with fossils...an adult earth so to speak.
2)Dinosaurs roamed the earth with man and became extinct in the flood.
3)There is a gap between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 "1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 And the earth was void and the Spirit of the Lord moved upon the waters." Some believe thta God had alraedy created the earth and the heavens and the creation story tells of a "second" creation period.
4) It was not a literal six days. "For a day is like a thousand years with the Lord"
Either way, you can always respond with, "I don't have an answer for everything, but God has made Himself known to me and that is all the proof I need."

Dinosaurs existed...fact that's proven...Were you trying to evangelize the kid? If so maybe you'd be better served to just explain and discuss beliefs rather than try to convert others to yours. PEACE!
