Is it true that the prophet Mohammed married a 9-year old girl?

I just read in "Islam Unveiled," by Robert Spencer, that the "prophet" Mohammed married a 9-year old girl when he was in his 50s, and that he had sexual intercourse with her. Is this true? If so, doesn't it mean that over 1 billion people are following the teachings of a pedophile?

Which explains why so many Muslim men marry children, and they treat women so badly. They are following the example of their leader. nichelle, I didn't ask for a long unrelated rant. I asked a simple question and the answer is yes, the "prophet" Mohammed had sex with a 9-year old girl. That behavior was unacceptable then and it is clearly unacceptable now, but some Muslims continue this filthy practice today. There is no defense of this perversion. Mohammed is supposed to be the role model for all followers of Islam.

Her name was Ai'isha and she was SIX when he married her, but he didn't have full sexual relations with her until she was NINE.

Mohammed was 54 years old at that time.

Until she was nine he performed what is known as "thighing" which means he masturbated between her legs without penetrating her.

That is why the Prophet used to place his male member between her thighs and massage it, as the prophet had control of his male member not like other men.

Muhammad said that he had dreamed of Aisha before demanding her from her father, and his own brother in Islam, Abu Bakr, claiming special ‘prophets rights’ when Abu Bakr was reluctant to give her to him.

The Prophet said, "You are my brother in Allah's religion and His Book, but she (Aisha) is lawful for me to marry."

Marriage to a female already offered to another was illegal in Arab law. Abu Bakr had already arranged for Aisha to marry Djubayr Mutim.

Muhammad married ‘A’isha in Mecca when she was a child of six and lived with her in Medina when she was nine or ten. She was the only virgin that he married. Her father, Abu Bakr, married her to him and the apostle gave her four hundred dirhams. Mohammed married her when she was 6 and had sex with her when she was 9. Her name was Aisha and she tells her story in the Hadiths. Muslims will try to deny this but the evidence is right in their sacred texts. All the evidence points that she was 9 when Mohammed consummated the marriage. Apparently, in Islam if a girl menstruates she is a woman therefore any man can have sex with her.

Aisha was six or seven years old when betrothed to Muhammad. She stayed in her parents' home until the age of nine, when the marriage was consummated.[3][2][4][5] The marriage was delayed until after the Hijra, or migration to Medina, in 622. Aisha and her older sister Asma bint Abi Bakr only moved to Medina after Muhammad had already fled there. Abu Bakr gave Muhammad the money to build a house for himself. After this, the wedding was celebrated very simply. After the wedding, Aisha continued to play with her toys, and Muhammad entered into the spirit of these games.[6]
