I was asked not to come back to work, but wait for them to call me back to work. I received my paycheck and record of employment. They checked "unknown" for the date which i will be call back. Does this mean I'm definiefly being layoff or just temporary?

This is what a layoff means. You weren't fired, so that's good. But since they don't have a crystal ball to tell when their business would be enough to need you again, they couldn't put any date in that block. But there is no guarantee they WILL be able to call you back, so - by all means - get another job.

Sounds like it's a temporary layoff. However, you may qualify for unemployment so go apply and start looking for a new job.

It means that you need to find another job because you are not going to get hired back.
