Do you think it's right to force an inmate into having an abortion? I saw this show years ago where this inmate was pregnant with a prison guards baby. The prison put her in the hole to manipulate her into having an abortion. She faught it until she was too far along for it to be leagle and got to have the baby.

An inmate cannot be forced to have an abortion, no matter who's the father. If a prison guard is doing something unethical, such as having sex with the prisoners or using his authority in power, turn him in. There are always chaplains, his superiors to talk to, and the majority prison guards would take the inmates words, and turn the prison guard in. Then let the legal justice system handle him.

PS) but, if there isn't anyone to take the baby after it's born, and the inmate is still in prison, some prisons let you keep the baby with you for up to 1 year in women's correctional facilities. Then when the woman gets released, she can get her baby back, if it was placed in a foster home after the age of 1 in some states, after birth in others.

It is unethical. Although a person's moral rights are removed from them in prison, it is the state (or feds) job to protect their constitutional rights while in prison. I take it that this case happened long ago? As a prisoner, guards only have to protect your constitutional rights. It says no where in the constitution that you have the right to bear a child. The guard SHOULD be releved of duty and possibly charged criminally. You also must take into consideration the child. Would he or she have a good life being in foster care and being raised without her biological mother or father? Also i believe that the charges should be taken into consideration. What if the mother is on deathrow? would an execution have to be held off and the mother be allowed to have the baby? Would that be fair to the child? On the other hand, what if the mother has a short sentance--and will be out before the baby's 1st birthday? All of this must be taken into consideration before people start yelling "thats wrong, pro life" or "thats good, save the tax payers dollars!"

Know one has the right to make someone murder there unborn child even if they are incarcerated in the situation that you talked about they was trying to hide the fact that the guard had illegal sex with an inmate which the state would have then been brought up on changes of neglect and sexual assault of a prisoner even if she contented to the sex her right to have sex was taken once she became a prisoner of that said state but the child in her stomach was another life and they could not make her take it , anyone that is incarcerated should still have the rights when it comes to there body.

Now, come on. You know good and well it's not right to force anyone to have an abortion - or to keep a baby either one! That's a decision that should always be left up to the person that's pregnant.

The TV show was make believe. Bad girls is not true. Anything that keeps your attention will be on TV. You shouldn't have to be told that even TV reality shows are not all true. Get a life, take a course at school or go out to the coffee shop or just read a book. The fiction books are not true, either

It was wrong for the prison to attempt to manipulate a prisoner like that, but I feel that encouraging the inmate to have an abortion was the right thing to do.

i don't think its right for anyone to be forced into an abortion, regardless of legal status...but chances are, that if it was years ago then the prison probably didn't have any policies on what to do and weren't being monitored....
not that the law is any more functional today...

Well, the high-toned answer is that in this country anyway, basic rights aren't suspended just because one is in prison.

So, is it "right" - no.

And the situation you describe is way beyond what is acceptable for how to treat prisoners. And that's a different problem.

Well, please tell me how she would care for the baby in prison? Who would pay for the baby? What kind of life would that baby have? I am sorry but I think if you are pregnant in prison and to far along for an abortion it should be put up for adoption and be put in a loving home. You lost your "parental rights" when you went to jail. It is much better for the baby to go to a loving home or to not be born.

I don't think anyone should have an abortion, epically if they want to keep the gift of life. I bet the reason they wanted her to have an abortion is because of shame on the guard. He probably was married or something.....but that don't matter, he should have kelp it in his pants!
