I'm not having one...I think the pictures are plenty. Spend a little extra money on a good photographer instead. Also, the way technology changes, the DVD would probably be obsolete by the time you hit your 5th wedding anniversary!!

I know 5 married people who had a wedding video. They have not watched it since they got the video! All are married over 5 years. One just recently had a 10 year renewal and didn't even use the wedding video as part of the reception!
I'm not having one either!

If you cant get video for your wedding, gather ALL the photos from the wedding day and your pictures of both of you growing up. Later scan (the ones that aren't digital) them to your computer and save to a CD. You can then give it out to someone (or a friend) to make into a slide show and add music to the background of find a nice free program online to do it yourself.
Best of luck to you both.

We didn't hire a videographer for our wedding, but we did receive a brand new digital video camera the night before... (it was a gift from his parents). Even though we didn't ask for one, we are very glad we got one...it's so fun to watch the video after-the-fact! I would highly recommend either investing in a video camera (we've already used ours on a few occasions since the wedding) or ask one of your relatives to bring their video camera and tape the important parts (ie. the ceremony, toasts, first dance, cake cutting, etc.). Best wishes!

I did have for first wedding and not the second. I had tons of pictures and that is enough for me. Realistically I didn't watch the video more than once the first time but I do look through wedding photos.

I am having hte same dilema so I am right there with you. My whole thing with the video is I want to have my grandparents on video so when they pass away I will have something to remember them by. Yeah I could just video tape them at their house but will I ever actually do it before it is to late? They do actually capture a lot of people and memories even if you dont ever watch it. What about if your kids ever want to see it? I dont know what to tell you I am actually reading the responses otehrs give you because I need the same advice. Good luck and congrats!!!

I am married 14 years as of this past Tuesday. I have never once watched the video from my wedding and have in fact lost it in a move. Also, I have never had the urge to watch it. I wouldn't waste the money. Ask everyone you know who has a video camera to bring it with and go the amateur route.

No you don't need one. It's one of those things that companies that cater to weddings would like you to think you need so you spend tons of money on it. People have been happily married for centuries before without it.

na, i'm not having one at my wedding. I'm even going to save money by placing disposable cameras on the the tables so my friends and family can take pictures of the wedding for us...

Get a friend to video tape it with a camcorder. Hopefully you have one or your friend does. All you have to spring for is the media that it uses and maybe an extra battery.
Congrats and save me some cake
