Blu-ray or HD dvd is true HD and if you have the TV best to get the real experience with a HD dvd player or if you are a gamer and this is not a Plasma TV because of burn in get a PS3 built in Blu-ray. Yes the picture is far superior look at the difference when you go from regular programming to HD and that is the difference you can expect from going from regular dvd playback to HD playback. Pretty awesome right!

Blu Ray is definately the next step in DVD viewing evolution. The Blu-Ray can be viewed at 1080p, which is true Full HD, while regular DVD's can only be upconverted to 1080i, which is not as good. If you have a HDTV with HDMI inputs and have the $$$ to drop on a Blu-Ray player (the best one I've found so far is the PS3), I highly recommend it. You will can't imagine the difference until you see it.

Ive just brought the Toshiba hd e1 for £130 on ebay with bestbuytradings and i must say it is fantastic.
the up scaling of normal DVDs is amazing
people keep saying yeah but it only goes up to 1080i yet other people say that the 1080p on bluray is terrible and a lot of TVs have problems with scaling it this high.
a lot of people will prob say I'm wrong but i really do think hd DVD will come out on top because the discs are cheaper and easier to manufacture and at the end of the day it is all about the money

Actually better than HD broadcasts can currently deliver. Here's a simple chart to show the differences in picture quality. Click right here: http://www.avtruths.com/scanlines.html

And if you hook the player correctly to your Home Theater, the sound is MUCH better than a plain old DVD. I believe this is the REAL advantage of Blu-ray and HD-DVD. Click right here to see how: http://www.avtruths.com/uncompressed.html

purchase a ps3 that is greater inexpensive than a blue ray disc participant (Like a DVD participant in basic terms performs blue ray) they are around $450 yet a blue ray disc participant is $six hundred. so which you're greater beneficial off paying for the ps3.
