someday she'll be gone, and you'll smile at the crazyness you felt when she tried to teach you things you already know!! I know I miss my nanna everyday!! besides, maybe she just needs you more than you need her! Don't take it so negitive when she wants to teach you something, make it something to cherish! once the time has come and gone you can't get it back! Smile and humor her! Sounds like she just needs to spend time with you! good luck!!

If you are uncomfortable with it, you should tell her. But personally, I think your 8 month old daughter should be able to take that advantage of learning spanish. Honestly, I'm 17 and I'm (or was) forced to take 2 years of another language. I decided to take Spanish and I'm so glad that I took those 2 years and it's over with because I was AWFUL at it! If I learned a second language when I was younger it would have been much easier when I was older. The only thing is, yes, you may not understand what she says at moments if she uses spanish, BUT you have to make sure that it DOES NOT affect her English learning skills! When she is older, she will understand when the appropriate time is to speak in spanish and when it is not.

Be open to new things. There are a billion different ways to "make potatoes". Even if she shows you exactly the same way you already know, it is an opportunity to spend time together. Don't think about what it does for you, but what it does for her. Maybe she really needs to feel like she can help somebody do something.

Say thank you grandma and change the subject. Honestly is this such a horrible think that it will break your relationship with your grandma. I think not and so should you. Often times our elders don't see us as adults but as the little kids that they have always loved. Don't let this become a big issue. Good luck!!

When my grandma had Alzheimer's real bad she had me bake cookies with her for about 4 days straight. I was so frustrated because I wanted to go outside and play with my friends and we'd already made more cookies than any one family could possibly eat. Also she kept using salt instead of sugar so most of them tasted like @ss.
In hindsight I'd give just about anything to make cookies with her again tho.

Enjoy the time you have with your grandmother because they're not around forever. I lost one of mine in July and another two years ago. Go along with it and while she's helping her display your cooking talents to her. Don't be rude to her, she loves you and she's trying to spend time with you.

Just listen to your grandmothers advice. Someday she wont be around, sorry, but you will wish she was around to tell you those things again.

Go along with it...someday she'll be gone and you may well wish she were there to teach you how to prepare potatoes again.
