No - I think that the laws that we have now cover morality pretty well. Don't steal, don't kill, etc. I'm ok with current marriage law. I also don't see why it shouldn't be changed to accomodate homosexuals. There has never been a shred of evidence presented to me that would confirm the claims that gay marriage is a threat to the American family - not one. I don't fight for it, I just don't care because it can not possibly have a detrimental effect on me or my family. The laws regarding abortion are fine - don't need to touch those. Death penalty is up to the states. I personally agree with the death penalty based on my recognition that the main purpose of prosecution of crime is retribution. Not rehabilitation, or to deter criminals - retribution, plain and simple. You killed - we're going to kill you. Social issues is kind of broad. I'm sure I could think of laws that I'd like to see changed because I think that they would benefit society - but I don't steal money from hapless atheists by promising them salvation so that I can turn around and spend the money lobbying Congress to pass laws that agree with me.
How many atheists are there in Congress? Do you think we are as well represented as Christians? We have no say in the laws that are made. Blame someone else.

Since you seem to be the expert on 'atheistic beliefs' lets hear where you think morality, marriage, abortion, the death penalty, and any other social issues you feel are being influenced by anything atheistic. Our Constitution is a secular document and our laws are far more influenced by ancient pagan Roman law than anything in the bible.

I think you are confused as to what 'atheism' means.
It is not a political stance, it is simply not believing in deities.
Most laws are not religious. Most US law comes from English Common law from Anglo Saxon times, and is cause-based.
Most morals are not religious either, they are consensual and a product of society.
For instance, not that long ago (150 years or so) it was ok to marry a 10 year old or 12 year old girl in some US states.
Are you telling me that the US was a more moral place back then? Or are morals relative, and change over time?
You question is fallacious. The answer below sums up why.

The Laws were originally written by Christians and deists who agreed that there would not be a dominant religion in polotics. The Treaty of Tripoli, section 11, specifically states that America IS NOT a Christian nation.
The term 'atheist' covers such a broad range of different beliefs. I do not believe we want them to change, we want them to reflect humane treatment and siocietal demands. A non-Christian is as concerned with many issues and struggles facing Americans as the person next to him/her.

Really do any of the changes affect you in any way, your not going to be forced to abort, have a gay marriage,or stem cell transplant. The social issues the right are dividing this country. The politicians harp on them and not only do they have nothing to do with running the country, no politician will change anything because they will lose votes. We need to find the middle ground on these issues and accept that are not going to leave regardless of law.

Atheists don't have a united creed or belief. We use our own experience as guidance. I think the difference may be that if someone tells me that God wants me to vote this way or that, i would tell him that i didn't care; a believer would conform to the group position of their religion and feel guilty if they secretly disagreed with it. That's why politicians always pander to the religious groups - it's like a one-stop shop for "sheeple". I probably share some of the same views you do on some of those issues, but not because God tells me - its because i think the view is right.

Abortion was made legal in the 1970's so I fail to see how we are responsible for that unless it is because some of us want to keep it as a safe, legal option (there are actually pro-life atheists you know).
I am anti-discrimination for every citizen in this country and sorry if your version of marriage falls under that. Discrimination, no matter what the basis is for it, is wrong. Until discrimination is wiped out, not everyone is considered equal.

First, you're an entire moron and 2d, atheists would have faith if there became information. that does no longer recommend they might worship your sh!t smearing interior the face, toddler killing God. talking of techniques-ineffective, why won't be able to you notice the information that guy creates Gods (you realize the ten,000 that all of us understand they created). you will could be an fool to think of your God who (supposedly) made the Jews consume their own toddlers, is actual. Your God has already been shown to be a delusion, written by a bunch of historic barbarians. this is fully illogical and ridiculous to even think of a loving God had any area of that vile e book referred to as the Bible.

Abortion and Atheist's don't go hand in hand you know, same with the death penalty or marriage..My pastor had 6 kids and a wife after his last kid graduated he came out as being gay..He still worships God even though everything he preached his whole life told him he'll be going to hell..So there goes your theory I guess..He's not an atheist but according to you he should be

Atheists don't necessarily share common goals. I get involved in politics to cover those things. They have little to nothing to do with my lack of belief in a god. Unfortunately for me, most theists can not make that same claim. So their beliefs affect my rights and society.
