Mexican. No offense, but in my experience, white people rip you off. Mexicans are there to work and work hard.

I actually just recently got my roof done. The owner is white but the people that worked on my roof were Mexican. I think the question shouldn't be about Mexican's, it should be about whether or not they're legal. Now I am totally fine with Mexican's but if they are illegal I do not want to support them. That said I don't know whether the ones on my roof were legal or not. I know I looked into 3 companies , all had warranties and all were backed by the BBB. I went with the lowest bidder, I did enough research to make sure I got a good roof but I don't have all the money in the world either. If money weren't an issue I would try to make sure they are all legal, since it is an issue there isn't but so much I can do.

Either would probably do the job just as well as the other. Mexican labor is cheaper to a point
but they do good work. But check for papers
with the Mexican and also contractors lic and insurance on both. Here is another hint for you to use. Have each submit a contractors bid if either refuses tell the other he has the job. Depending on roof size it could get expensive
anywhere from 800.00 to several thousand.
Also check for length of warranty after the roof is installed. If you live in snow country make sure the put snow blockers on the roof above your doors.

Actually just had a new roof put on my house by a black contractor who had Hispanic and white guys doing some of the work. So where does that fit in to you question?

The one that can do the work properly the first time, not cut corners, bids a competitive price and is able to communicate, cleary. A valid contractor's license and proof of insurance is a must!

This will probably piss a few people off but......the white guy is probably just gonna hire the mexican guy to help/do the job and pay him less to do it. And the mexican guy is gonna do a hell of a job so why not save money and have someone do a good job all at the same time. I say hire the mexican guy.

Whoever does the better quality of work at the same price (a few dollars more or less) & the fastest, it doesn't matter if they're pink with purple polka dots!

I had a hispanic person come to my family's house that could not speak decent english, we had to translate through his son. He apparently did good work but translating was just too much work. So we did not choose him on that occasion.
So, if they both can speak good english then whoever has the best price and references.

My experience has been that services provided by non-American owned companies provide cheaper, faster service at about equal or better quality. Make sure they have a license though - if not, you could be responsible for any injuries that occur during construction. (at least in California)
