There is no evidence that Jesus existed. There are some non-biblical writings that have been shown to be forgeries, but there is nothing from historians of the day, which one would expect if such a figure had actually existed, or if even half of the things attributed to him had actually taken place.

Did a historical Jesus exist?
http://www.nobeliefs.com/exist.htm
[Excerpt]

ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS

No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus got written well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay provides no proof or good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.

The empirical evidence is the finding of fossils in geological strata that resemble humans and apes. The main evidence for Jesus is testimonial. Empirical evidence for Jesus tends to be internally experienced by believers.

Unless one has had one of those personal experiences, they are left with testimonial evidence. How can testimonial evidence be validated when even the Church isn't sure who the authors were? Therefore it becomes a matter of faith, which is something skeptics have trouble embracing, especially in a world where that are many liars and charlatans.

So no, their position is reasonable. They are not kidding in that respect.

They are fossils of human like or apes that can be seen. I am Christian and believe in Jesus but these apes did exist. According BBC website i read between 6-10 Million years old are some of the oldest ape fossils found.

I haven't seen the fossilized Jesus yet.

I haven't seen any original works from his followers, even though there are many original works available from that time period.

I see flagrant plagiarisms in the writings of Josephus, that only apply to the existence of Jesus.

I can read the dead sea scrolls and clearly see that OT Scripture has changed dramatically between 2-4 BC and 330AD.

There are just too many indications that Jesus was actually not a real person, but a literalised deity created by the Romans that incorporated Egyptian religion and Gnostic belief.

We have allot of science and fossil material that supports the existence of privative man.

Why are you unwilling to really read up on the formation of Christianity or on scientific understanding, and just accept your beliefs as taught to you, on faith alone?

Edit....

Saying SURE, doesn't change the fact that these things are true. PLEASE read the dead sea scrolls, after all, your salvation is dependent on the bible being a divinely inspired text. Why wouldn't you spend the time to make sure you are relying in accurate information, if everlasting life was reliant on it?

Nobody said Jesus didn't exist... just that he can't be the son of God because God does not exist.

Atheists don't believe in God for good reasons.

What's more difficult to believe: The existence of a supreme being capable of defying the laws of physics (even though no one has ever witnessed it)? or that we evolved from apes (which was empirically proven by Darwin)?

In all fairness, there are no fossils of Jesus. I do believe a person called Jesus existed, I just believe that the stories and deeds surrounding him have been made up from a variety of other myths.

Noe of us believe that we existed 3 billion years ago, though.

What are you, 12 years old? Jesus DID exist (he's a historical figure), but that doesn't mean he did anything special. Everyone just considered him a prophet, or the son of God.

Your use of "3 billion years" just shows your simple-minded shallow thinking. It's called fossils. We've found plenty of them.

It's funny to me the things that evolutionists like to call "proof" or "evidence". The only thing a bone or a fossil can really PROVE is that something died. Try again.

"For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

It's 3 million years, not billion, bozo. Where'd you go to school, anyway?

We have empirical evidence for the former, not the latter. What kind of idiot god would set up such a ridiculous scam? None! So science is correct on the basis of the Occam Razor test.

I don't doubt that Jesus existed... I do however doubt that he was the son of god, part of a virgin birth, could walk on water, could turn water in to wine, could bring people back from the dead, cure blindness ect...

Oddly enough most fossilized creatures with hair such as yours have all went extinct. We can only hope this trend continues.
