"It has served us well this myth of christ" (Pope Leo X)

We can all be very close to God if people start opening up and read their bibles. My bible says in Romans 8:14 "For as many are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God." The pope is led by the spirit of a false gospel. He and the rest of his crew are led by Mary and not the word of God the King James bible.

Ephesians 4:11-12 "And he gave some apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ."

I don't read that God made Popes, or Nuns and Jesuites, or Priests that we call father. Man love false gospel like this because they love their darkness Jesus said in John 3:19.

What makes you think the Pope is close to God; because he says so? Have you ever listened to what God has to say about it?

Psalms 34:18 -- The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.

From all that I've read about Joseph Ratzinger, he is anything BUT contrite of spirit.

Psalms 145:18 -- The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth.

The Catholic Church is WELL KNOWN for obscuring the truth.

Isaiah 29:13 -- Therefore the Lord said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,...

Does this not sound exactly like the Catholic Church? They preach God and spout his Words, but they disregard HIS Commandments and replace them with their OWN commandments.

Of the Catholic Church God speaks thus:
Zephaniah 2:15-3:7 -- This is the rejoicing city That dwelt securely, That said in her heart, "I am it, and there is none besides me." How has she become a desolation, A place for beasts to lie down! Everyone who passes by her Shall hiss and shake his fist.
Woe to her who is rebellious and polluted, To the oppressing city! She has not obeyed His voice, She has not received correction; She has not trusted in the Lord, She has not drawn near to her God. Her princes in her midst are roaring lions; Her judges are evening wolves That leave not a bone till morning. Her prophets are insolent, treacherous people; Her priests have polluted the sanctuary, They have done violence to the law.

You can find a pauper child in the wastelands of the world who is closer to God than the Pope.

Hi,

I have never seen a pope ever claim that.
Many think the pope knows just a little more on religion and biblical theology than the average Joe but he is far from perfect like the rest of us.

I would go as far as to say that over half of the population of the planet are closer to God than the Pope. They just don't have the golden bathtub and jewel encrusted robes.

The ONLY justification for saying that the Pope is the closest to God is because his hat sticks up higher than any other. I personally do not think we will meet any popes in heaven.

Why indeed? Throughout history there have been many closer to God than the pope.
Mother Theresa.
The Saints.
Even the Theologians to some extent.

We have Jesus Christ who went to the cross and left The Holy Spirit with us, so We can be close to God, not just the Pope, We have that, We have the Holy Spirit, and can talk directly to God through our Savior.
