I do this. I have very fine hair. My stylist advises that I wash my hair every second day to help keep it from being to flat and fly-away. I don't like that it looks a little greasy at the scalp. So I take a big fluffy make-up brush and dip it in baby powder. I tap off excess powder and then pull my hair up straight from my scalp. I fluff the brush against my roots lightly. This really helps absorb the oil and it gives my hair more volume at the roots. I have light blonde hair so the powder is not noticeable at all. However, if you have darker hair you might want to try a special "hair powder" that is coloured to match you hair better. Bumble and bumble makes it, see their site:

It does work but you have to be careful not to put too much or it will look white and powdery. If you have a problem with oily hair like I do it works to get rid of the oily look. I have powder at work to cut the oiliness. I also use a clarifying shampoo and try not to brush my hair too often (brushing you hair often will make your hair oilier.
For the others there are some people that have naturally oily hair and no matter what you do it is still oily. To presume that a person isn't washing their hair is insulting. I wash my hair every morning and by the afternoon it looks oily.

No, it would make it white. You should wash your hair if it's that greasy. Try a clarifying shampoo for oily hair. If it's because you have oily skin, then there's nothing you can do about it. Maybe wear your hair up, for some reason hair that is down and straight always looks greasy. And don't use any styling products as these will add to the grease.

You should wash your hair if it's greasy, but if you can't for some reason, you can dust it with talcum powder, rub it in, and then brush it out. The powder will absorb some of the grease. But no, to be honest, it doesn't work very well. You should only do it if you just really, really can't wash your hair.

Its just gonna get all clumpy and stick together, depending on how greasy it gets while the powder is in your hair. They make shampoo for greasy hair, you should try it before the powder.

Yes. I heard that if your hair is greasy and you cannot take a shower or wash your hair to use a little bit of powder at your roots and it will absorb some of the greasiness.

If you don't already wash your hair every day, try that. If you do wash your hair every day, try washing every other day. Sometimes washing too much will dry your scalp out and your hair will get greasy as a way to compensate. After about a week the oil will die down and your hair will be nicer.

Usually people but talc in their hair if it is thin to make it have more body. Also, if the hair is too clean, to dirty it up so that it will be fuller. I would imagine it would stick if your hair were oily and cause dandruff. For oily hair I'd wash my hair with a therapeutic shampoo to remove the oil, they use the talc on clean hair to give it body.

I've heard that it works, but I'd rather shower with hot water and soap to get rid of greasy hair.

My friend used to put baby powder. Personally, I prefer showering. It is gross to me to cover up your oil with powder. That just makes it more dirty, but less greasy-looking
