Staff Infection(on inner thigh)how to get rid of the redness around the area and can i walk on it?

i got staph in my blood stream after i had surgery two yrs ago. i still have staph sore outbreaks from time to time. my Dr. told me to use pine tar soap to bath with and also keep a mixture of neosporin and black salve/ichthemal ointment on it with a nonstick breathable gauze pad.
