They divide people more than they do any sort of good anymore.
And church leaders just line their own pockets (not that that's any new practice)

Where's the benfit that comes from organized religion today?

God said that in the last days there would be wars and roumors of wars, there would be destruction and chaos, and that there would be many false preachers...

But my church leaders don't line their pockets. The tithing we give them goes to help paying to build temples or supplies for those during wars that need help. (We helped thousands during the potato famine)

No. Only despots outlaw religions. Freedom is more important than outlawing things you don't like. There lies a totalitarain state or a theocracy.

For instance, how useful is the 'Aryan Nations' Church Of Jesus Christ? They preach against blacks, Jews, homosexuals. All the time. They exist to carry on what Hitler started. But they are free to do this because they live in a free country. The minute they break the law then they must answer to the law. Until then, they should be free to preach their hatred. And the people shoudld be free to argue them.

The law should not be there to ban people from forming groups or opinions.

Grant it , evil has moved in on some of our churches but, THANK GOD, NOT ALL. It is sad but there's evil groups out there trying to destroy faiths of all kinds. As for Pastors lining their pockets it has to be proved. I admit I have some doubts but, until is proof I keep quiet. God warns against ill speaking against His prophets. In th Bible, Soloman was the richest man around. David was real rich also. God does prosper people. Now some of these Preachers, I think you may be talking about, have maybe 10,000 members. A church pays a % of the offerings to the Pastor. That could be some money. The Bible warns against not paying the Pastors. Also they are on call 24/7 and devote most of their life to the work of God. Consider the heavy travelling they do ,it would take all the offerings to pay the air fair for so many people involved in the ministry. and all their equipment.

outlawing them might divide people more.
governments that have outlawed religions did not succeed. people sneaked and did their religions anyway. do you really want to fill the prisons up with people who went to church and prayed? i mean really, pay to keep them in jail for doing that? not me.

i have had great benefit from organized religion (unitarian universalist). very great benefit over my life.

people are trying to do what's right. church is a support.

not all church leaders just line their own pockets. the church leaders at my church are much poorer than the people who go to church there. so that' doesn't seem true to me. the money is very well accounted for by the board of directors. and a lot of it goes to worthy charities.

Organized religion as you call it,,was never what Christianity was and is all about....you don't even have to set foot inside a church to be saved,,,salvation is about a personal relationship between you and Almighty God....it is nice to have fellowship with other Christians and teachers and preachers are important, but organized religion...no,,,,many people meet in each others homes....you don't need a big church. Don't think because people go to these big churches that they are all saved...

Let's say that was physically possible, which of course it's isn't. What do you think all the very religious people would focus all their time on now that it's not spent bettering themselves? What are the odds it would be a more positive past time? 1/100? 1/1000? Less?

People generally do not follow a religion because it's "useful."
They follow it because they believe it is the truth. So, no, I do not think the truth nor honest attempts at finding the truth should be outlawed.

Your wrong. Some churches may not be all they proclaim to be, but most of them truly are. I'm a Southern Baptist and I love my church. It allows me to have a good clean environment to be with my kids. It helps many of those in need and it helps out in the community often. God Bless.

There is some benefit to religion today.

Think about all the questions about how religious people can't understand what stops atheists from raping and murdering people at will.

These questions show us that some people are so morally corrupt that they require belief in God to stop them from going wild. If that is the case, I say make sure they have religion to keep them in line.

It is used for terrible things, but I am worried if they lost their faith in God, they would burn down the world.

Religion is the Bible's worst enemy......The Bible unites but religion divides.........“Every kingdom divided against itself comes to desolation, and a house [divided] against itself falls.Luke 11:17
