Sony have discontinued production of the 60GB model. They issued a statement in October that it's due to "consumer feedback", and the aim was to lower production costs & the retail price with the 40GB model. So, the 60GB has quickly become rarer than a Nintendo Wii. If you're lucky you may find a store somewhere that hasn't sold all the 60GBs yet - otherwise the 40GB is the only option in the UK for now. It's basically the same as the 60GB - the main thing missing is backwards capabilities with PS2 games

i would look on e-bay. i work in pest control and as such i am given access to the stockrooms of all the major outlets-and at the moment the shelves are full of the 40 gig version. you don.t see the 60 gig model so much now (this isn't to say you could not buy one-but there is no doubt that the model is becoming increasingly rare). and if what the lady above says is right then it will be sony's loss as the 60 gig version was the best one of the lot.

Some BestBuys in LA still have them. Since they have the original price drop of 499 now and some of the newer models are = or less with bigger harddrives, they still are sitting there. Id look around before going to EBAY.

If you're in the UK then the best bet are the Game stores, the downside is that you'll not get a new one but a pre-owned PS3. Price-wise they should be the same as the 40Gb model.

I would pay the extra dough to get it new from a reputable seller.
