i got staph in my blood stream after i had surgery two yrs ago. i still have staph sore outbreaks from time to time. my Dr. told me to use pine tar soap to bath with and also keep a mixture of neosporin and black salve/ithemal ointment on it with a nonstick breathable gauze pad.

It depends on the Staph. If it is a local staff infection in the skin, you can apply warm compresses to the area to help get the bacteria to the surface of the skin. However, antibiotic therapy is still the mainstay of treatment. If you have a large abscess with Staph or a systemic Staph infection, you need to be on antibiotic therapy, or the infection could spread and cause some serious issues. With a good antibiotic and a small infection, Staph is curable with about 7 to 10 days of treatment.
