I wish i could help but unfortunately i carnt. Having read through the feed back i would say that Lyn B as offered sound advice that if i were in your situation i would follow. I hope your puppy feels better soon. The visit to the vet Monday will soon put it right.

On another note can i just say the person who asked this question did so to help her puppy and also because she knows that there are people out there like all of you that know what you are talking about and can possibly help alleviate her puppies pain until she has the funds to get it treated.

Your judgement was almost immediate, and im guilty i agree with most of you. it isnt until you sit back and read all the post's that you realise she would probably have got off easier if she had asked you all to take aim and fire.

We may not agree with the fact that she does not have the money now to sort this pup out but this is not an ideal world.
She did however care enough to ask us lot what we thought. i bet she wished she hadnt bothered and thats what worries me.

If we treat all of the queries has harshly has we have this one dont we risk allienating the very people that we could help.

Some of you really know your stuff and your knowledge could make a huge difference to a family with a pet that is suffering who possibly can not afford a vet. After reading some of the comments on here would they still ask?

Part of the reason he is crying is because he is 6 weeks old and in a new home without his mom or littermates. When we brought home our last puppy she cried all night long for 2 weeks straight. We started warming up a towel and putting a toy that had a heart beat by her during the night and we had to leave her. I think it helped feel less anxious about her surroundings. Just speak quietly and love him up, call the vet and ask what you can temporarily do to ease his discomfort with the mange. Usually they are more than willing to help and they might even see him early if you tell them you will pay on Monday. Good luck!

I second the above poster! The pup need to see a vet not the people at pet smart they are not vets, the vet could give the pup something to help it and bathing 2 times in one week is not good. Get a shampoo called epi-sooth from the vet it is about 25.00 for a bottle but it may help. And believe it or not Masingail Yeast infection medicine for woman can help. Clean the area with peroxide, dry it well and apply the yeast infection medicine. We Did this with our dog. Just watch him until it soaks in so he dose not lick it! Call the vet and help the poor thing. Also it is missing its mom! no dog should leave mom until they are at least 8 weeks old. you may have to go get some puppy milk. Good Luck!

If your dog has mange, you just exposed you just exposed every dog at petsmart to it. Congrats. Mange is transmittable.

You need to take the dog to the vet ASAP. If you can't afford to, then you can't afford the puppy. I don't mean to be rude, but a puppy in this bad of shape at 6 weeks is probably going to have issues its entire life. If you can't afford it now, you can't afford it when his knees blow out and he needs $1000 surgery. Or when his parvo shows up and he needs $3000 in care. Or when his back gives out or his teeth crumble.

If you can't afford the vet today, but can on Monday, call the vet and ask what you can do to keep it comfortable until monday. Treat the dog and then find a rescue group or no-kill shelter who can rehome it with a family that can afford it and all its medical problems.

If it's a matter of time, then there are emergency vets that are open 24 hours and vets that offer odd hours for working people.

It's great that you want to help a sickly puppy, but I just don't think you are prepared to handle him right now.

Added - "I get paid monday. Damn do you have to be so F***ing rude about everything."
And what happens the next time the dog is sick and you dont' have the money?
If he breaks a leg and needs immediate care?
Or if he gets hit by a car? .
Are you just going to take him out back and shoot him? It's ridiculous to think that bringing up reality is rude.
You obviously haven't considered it AT ALL.

It's not that only rich people should have dogs, but you clearly can't afford it. You have no savings to take the dog to a vet in the case of an emergency and you aren't willing to use a credit card to ease your dog's pain.

You don't deserve this poor puppy.

Please, find a better home for it before it's lying there in misery because you can't afford a vet visit!!!!!!

It sounds like u just got him and It's normal for him to cry if he's in a new environment. He misses his mom and littermates and everything else he's become used to in his whole two month existence since being born. He wants some extra cuddles from his new mommy to make him feel safe and secure. When I got my puppy he cried and cried until he fell asleep. When I finally found him, he was asleep in my laundry basket with the dirty clothes. Give your pup an old t-shirt of yours to sleep with and eventually he'll be fine.

Wow I hate when people are rude and just make an a s s out of themselves when they assume.

Anyway, find another vet that will see your dog so you don't have to wait until monday.

Why do you have to wait until Monday to take the dog to the vet? You should take him now - don't let him suffer. Can you get an appt today or tomorrow?

Give him 1/2 of a baby Benedryl that should help with the itching. If he still cries, try 1/2 of a baby aspirin, NO other pain pills, just aspirin for children. That should get him to Monday. We adopted a guy with Mange and did the bath every day for 2 weeks routine and he itched so bad. No hair and lots of rashes. I felt so sorry for him. But he is a love now and has beautiful hair and a beautiful soul. I might mention that baths with human shampoo is NO GOOD. Get some from the vet or use a shampoo designed for horses. Horses have sensitive skin and their shampoos are better than ours.
(no acids, no alkaline)

Just give him tender love and care, 6 weeks is a bit young for a dog to be away from its mother. You may want to get some puppy milk and bottle feed him. For dry skin go to a natural dog food store, and get salmon oil, and pump it onto her dry food, (READ THE BACK TO SEE HOW MUCH SHE SHOULD HAVE) and this will help remarkably with her coat/itching. Also try a grain free food she may be allergic to grain. i recommend Orijen ( not sure on its grain status) or Inuva Evo which is grain free.
