Almost every time. Police rarely serve and protect. Police don't prevent crimes no matter what they or anyone else says , they get the people AFTER the crimes have been committed. Police basically serve the STATE which is not the same as serving the people

I think it is hilarious when people make comments like this, because the people who do are the ones who were caught doing something wrong and have something to hide. Let me ask you something... who is the first person you would call if your house was robbed, or someone held you at gunpoint? The answer is the police... They put their lives on the line everyday and ask for nothing in return. I agree, there are some rookies out there that may abuse their priveleges but the majority of the police are out there serving and protecting in your community, even if you can't see everything that they are doing. So the next time you want to make a comment like that, think about what you are really asking? I think you will find that the real question is, why am I so worried about being pulled over?

well, when i was younger (& wilder) i always got nervous when i cop got behind me. However, now that i have grown up--i feel comforted when i see the police. i know there are some "bad" cops out there but for the most part--cops are good. they are here to serve and protect and that is what most of them do. Just think if you were a cop--how much crap you would have to put up with. Just be a responsible and RESPECTFUL person and the cops won't freak you out so much. if you must do something illegal--do it at home, not on the road-then you have nothing to worry about. i know some cops don't do what they should, but i know i wouldn't want to live in a world where the cops didn't exist.

I feel the same way as Guitar57 even though I have no reason to be nervous. I got my drivers license five years ago
(at age 24) when I was the mother of two children so I am a good and safe driver. I have African American friends and family members (male) who have been pulled over for no reason except that they are African American.
I live in Maryland so I get more nervous (seeing a cop behind me) in Baltimore than in the county/suburbs where I live.
I hate driving in the city anyway so it does kind of make me relieved to see police officers although I don't particularly feel protected and served.

I'd say the comment has a bit of paranoia with it!
Maybe you have a guilty conscience about things you've done wrong! If you were to comply with societies rules...not made by the police but you the voters...things would be a bit different.
The sad thing I see every day is those who blame the police because the person themselves, NOT the police, did something wrong! A judge issues a warrant for someones arrest...sure...go ahead and blame the police for doing the job YOU pay them to do...enforce the laws!
My suggestion is you grow up and be an adult for a change and quit placing the blame on where it DOESN'T belong!

I hate cops. They are self-righteous pricks. They don't make me nervous. I don't need the police; I can take care of myself. Plus I here them say they are in the military all the time. (In reference to there job, not like National Guard or reserves.) They wish they were as good and admired as the military.

Wow... well when you need any kind of assistance don't call the cops!!! And why are you feeling nervous while driving? If I were too see another cop behind me I wouldn't care. You obviously have something to hide or have been in trouble with the law... good luck to you.

You know guilt and stupidity are wonderful things and are great tools for law enforcement. Guilt and being stupid have been the downfall of kings and rulers throughout history. Why should you...a mere mortal....be any different?
Every time you see a cop in your rear view mirror you immediately check your speed and wonder if the officer will stop you if not for something you just did for something you did...well a short time before or the last time that you were speeding or breaking the law and didn't get caught.
Don't blame the officer for your guilt or for your stupidity....it's completely yours....he or she are just capitalizing on it.

I believe that point comes when you stop doing stupid stuff. And start caring about the people around you.Just think what it would be like for you and your family if there were no police.

I always get a lil nervous when they pull up behind me, but if I haven't done anything wrong, I don't sweat it much.
