The cheapest from Oak, Calif to Munich round trip $385, most time around $400 to 600, summer season $600 to 900.

Depends where and when. For travel in Jan, Feb, and March, Lufthansa and United have lots of US cities to Germany under $400 round trip total, but those end before Easter (late March this year). In summer, NYC-FRA, for example, might cost $900; in winter, $400 (like now); in spring or fall, $500-600. Western US cities and smaller towns usually cost more.

It all depends on what city you fly out of and during what time of year. Just go on expedia and type in your city to Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, etc.
